Another commercial partner, Source Supplies (a Metsa Tissue Distributor), provided foam sanitiser for use in the new urinals. They also provided mobile sanitiser that the campers can use when they go out to spend a night in the woods.
A typical itinerary starts with a
tour of camp where children can discover how the sustainable systems on site work.
ENERGY CREDITS Charlie and Claire have lots of plans for the future of the camp. Charlie said: “One of the most exciting things for me is that we will install a ‘Virtual Energy Credit System’. Children will wear a wrist band counter, which shows them how much energy they use and compare it with how much energy they have created whilst undertaking the various activities. This will bring home the message about only using what you need more than ever. We’ve come a long way, very quickly and the children love what we do here.”
He believes that it takes three elements to keep the sustainability wheel turning: recycle/reuse technologies and methodologies; People to implement them; and financial support to ensure that it is possible.
He concluded: “Without all three, we couldn’t do what we do, and we are very grateful to the support we’ve had from all of our commercial partners including Metsa Tissue and Source Supplies.”
