News Sponsored by New vacuums tidy up

Makita has announced the release of a new range of brushless motor, stick vacuum cleaners: the DCL280F, the DCL281FZB and the DCL282FZ.

Each model benefits from Makita’s signature lithium-ion (LXT) batteries, offering innovative, superior performance when compared to standard units. What’s more, the technology provides anytime charge and long-time storage. As a result, the new vacuums provide strong performance, with run times of 20 minutes for the DCL280F and 50 minutes for the DCL281FZB and DCL282FZ on Normal settings with a 6.0Ah battery. Thanks to their long run times, the vacuum cleaners are perfectly suited for commercial cleaning.

Whilst powerful, the machines are battery- powered and not restricted by a need to connect to the mains, allowing for added portability. Having this freedom improves health and safety on site, reducing the risk of people tripping over wires. Similarly, as the vacuums have been ergonomically designed, they can be used for longer periods without causing user fatigue.

The new range constitutes a first for Makita, who hadn’t previously produced a brushless stick vacuum. Moving to a brushless system has a number of advantages when it comes to vacuum cleaners, particularly in relation to maximum airflow and max sealed suction. When compared to a comparative non-brushless stick vacuum the airflow of DCL282FZ is increased from 1.4m3/min to 1.5m3/min, whilst its suction increased from 4kPa to 8.2kPa. What’s more, as a brushless motor never makes contact with any other internal components it will last far longer and work more efficiently.

Matthew Chilton, Product Manager – Tools at Makita UK, commented: “We’re delighted with this new range of vacuum cleaners. It’s the first time we’ve fitted a brushless motor to a vacuum cleaner and the benefits are obvious. The new machines provide better performance levels than anything we’ve produced before. Whether you’re running your own cleaning firm, or just looking to keep things tidier on-site, the machines are a perfect solution.”

As well as performance improvements, the new range has been designed with a number of features that improve functionality. Each model in the range has been fitted with an LED job light to help facilitate use in times of low light or darkness. Similarly, the DCL281FZB and DCL282FZ feature three variable power settings, and a new one-touch button switch, which allows them to be turned on quickly and with minimal effort, whilst the DCL280F features a trigger and sliding lock on the switch.
