Knauf UK contract for JCD Cleaning

JCD Cleaning & Support Services has been successful in their bid to provide all industrial factory cleaning services and ad hoc specialist cleaning to lightweight building products and systems manufacturer, Knauf UK.

Operations began on 1 February at Knauf’s Kent HQ, after penning a three-year contract valued in the region of £900k following a four-month tender process.

JCD is a fast growing commercial cleaning company in the South East. They provide a full range of cleaning services with fully trained staff utilising the best high-end tools to deliver on long-term or short-term cleaning contracts.

A Knauf UK spokesperson said: “We are pleased to have JCD Cleaning as our new strategic cleaning partner, and believe their focus on proactive contract management and support will provide Knauf with the ongoing support required to ensure continuity of cleaning services within our factory areas.”

In response to this new contract, JCD has transferred 10 full-time employees to provide all aspects of day-to-day industrial factory cleaning. Additionally, the company will also be carrying out a wide range of periodic deep cleaning services and highly specialised confined space, manned entry, rope access, and silo cleaning in high-risk areas as well as industrial cleans to factory assets and equipment to ensure the smooth running of the factory from one day to the next.

Addressing the new partnership, Managing Director Chris Guilfoyle added: “After a tough tender process the entire JCD Family is delighted to be working with an iconic local company. We welcome 10 new team members to the business and look forward to supporting Knauf with all its requirements regardless of its complexity. Here’s to the next three years and beyond in partnership with Knauf.”

Paper Round has announced that the company will be changing its name to Recorra later this year.

The word ‘Recorra’ is derived from a combination of recycling, ecology and terra (the Earth). It was chosen to reflect the role that the company and its customers play in helping tackle the current environmental crisis through best practice recycling and waste management.

Paper Round currently trades using the brands Paper Round, Brighton Paper Round, and BPR Group, and has also recently purchased Reef Environmental. All brands will be retired and replaced by Recorra in November.

To further emphasise the change, the company is also introducing the strapline ‘Real Recycling’. This covers improving environmental outcomes through delivering higher quality recycling, minimising the impact of vehicle movements, reducing carbon emissions, engaging with staff to reduce waste, and the wider social impact of the business.

Bill Swan, MD, commented: “This new positioning will simplify our branding, allowing us to innovate faster and reflects where we are going as a company. We are proud of our independence: we are one team, with one new name, driving real recycling.”

The formal transition will take place in early November, but the new name was introduced in some communications and materials from 15 June. This will allow existing assets to be used up in the normal course of trading before the formal change, eliminating waste from the transition.
