Socius gets warm welcome
The Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association (CHSA) has welcomed the Socius Network into the Association.
The Network was brought on board after each of its 18 members successfully passed the initial audit conducted by the CHSA’s Independent Inspector.
The Socius Network, which was founded in April 2008, is an association of well-respected and established independent distributors of non-food consumables to the foodservice industry. Between them, its members have over 25 locations covering the UK, Ireland and the Channel Islands.
Mike Revell, Managing Director of the Socius Network, said: “Our goal is always to provide the very best service and top-quality products to our customers. Joining the CHSA and becoming an Accredited Distributor was a natural step forward. We are looking forward to being an active member, supporting the CHSA’s key initiatives.”
Mike Stubbs, Chairman of the CHSA’s Manufacturing Standards Accreditation Schemes, said: “We are pleased to welcome the Socius Network. Our manufacturing members include multinationals with a global footprint and major UK-based independent manufacturers. Our distributor members span national networks to privately owned independent businesses. Socius makes a valuable addition to our membership and will help us drive forward our agenda. This includes our commitment to standards and leadership in advocating ethical and environmentally sustainable business practices.”
CHSA membership is a stamp of approval. It operates Accreditation Schemes for distributors and for manufacturers of plastic-based, of cotton-based, of cleaning and hygiene chemicals, and of paper-based and woven products. Every member of the CHSA has also signed the Association’s rigorous Code of Practice. It
Wrigley Field hits a hygiene home run
Historic Wrigley Field in Chicago is the latest professional sports stadium to achieve GBAC STAR Facility Accreditation from the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC), a division of ISSA.
Built in 1914 and known as the ‘Friendly Confines’, Wrigley Field has been the home of the Chicago Cubs for more than a century. In 2004, the City of Chicago named the ballpark a Chicago Landmark, and in 2020, the site was designated as a National Historic Landmark by the US Department of the Interior. The second-oldest active Major League Baseball (MLB) ballpark averages more than 3m fans per year, and is a sought-after destination for sports enthusiasts around the world.
Additional facilities that can now display the accreditation seal include South Bend International Airport in Indiana; Venue 66 in Los Angeles, California; Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City; Alley Theatre in Houston, Texas; as

requires them to ‘maintain a high standard in the conduct of its business’.
The combination of the Code of Practice and Accreditation Scheme membership means every member:
• Trades ethically and sustainably; •
Provides quality, fit for purpose products; and
• Makes sure what’s on the box is what’s in the box. ‘Our Standards, Your Guarantee.’
The CHSA’s Code of Practice and Accreditation Schemes are underpinned by Independent Inspection. The Independent Inspector, an experienced quality assurance professional, visits every member to ensure compliance. The Inspector conducted 146 audits in 2020, equalling the number conducted in 2019, and members across all the Schemes achieved compliance of 93% or more.

well as popular properties and hotels in Kenya, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Mexico, South Korea, Greece, Austria, Spain, and the United States.
Patricia Olinger, GBAC Executive Director, said: “When a facility has an organised approach to cleaning, disinfection, and infection prevention, employees have a clear picture of their roles and responsibilities. GBAC STAR accreditation helps organisations create and execute a plan for minimising risks associated with infectious agents. This makes it an ideal fit for historic places like Wrigley Field, newer hotels, and everything in between.”
