TRANSPORT CLEANING

The Sky’s The Limit

Throughout their 50 years of service, OCS has consistently delivered bespoke cleaning solutions across the aviation sector. Now, with expansion across the world already in place the sky really is the limit.

Today’s travellers demand a seamless, positive experience from the moment they arrive in the airport car park to their destination point. The business traveller demands a clean and comfortable airport and aircraft where they are able to get on with the demands of their work or to rest before a busy schedule, while today’s holidaymakers choose their place of departure and airline based on the quality of service – from the friendliness of the cabin staff, to choice of food and a clean and pleasant ambiance.

For the companies running the airports and airlines, keeping a high level of customer satisfaction is core to their business, and providing a wide range of support services – including terminal cleaning, aircraft grooming and security services – falls to companies such as OCS.

OCS delivers services to 10 of the 11 major airports in the UK and to airlines and airports around the world. Last

year, OCS cleaning operatives had a role in the BBC TV documentary series ‘A Very British Airline’ about the daily challenges of British Airways’ global operations, and OCS cleaning staff have also made appearances on ‘Inside Gatwick’ which followed the staff, major renovation and regeneration projects, and day to day happenings at the airport.

Over the years OCS has continued to make the aviation services headlines: when Singapore Airlines brought the first A380 Airbus to the UK early in 2008, OCS made cleaning history as the first British support services company with the capability of cleaning the aircraft. The company created a tailored cleaning solution which began with a survey of the unique cabin layout in Singapore, they invested in hi-lift access equipment which was purpose built to meet the eight metre upper deck sill height, and all staff training took place using a specially prepared video and samples

of A380 passenger comforts. When the inaugural flight landed at London Heathrow Airport, the OCS team successfully serviced the A380 in a turnaround of just under one hour – and it was the first time they had ever set foot on the aircraft.

Today, OCS’s partnership approach to providing bespoke quality service solutions for the aviation sector includes the delivery of specialist aircraft appearance services to many of the world’s leading airlines including long-standing client British Airways, as well as Virgin Atlantic Airways, Emirates, and United Airlines. While last year, 12 new airlines were added to the company’s aircraft grooming portfolio, with the company now servicing some 600 aircraft daily at airports across the UK.

The key to success for OCS is understanding the highly specialised needs of the aviation industry and sharing the commitment to safe and efficient operations from the ground
