TAKE UP THE CHALLENGE AT THE

ACADEMY Even the most experienced hardened installer can gain new skills when they take up the challenges faced at the Academy for Excellence in Flooring.

With 12m2 bays full of obstacles such as sinks, toilets, angles, stairs, curved walls and more, there are plenty of challenges to face as you conquer tests in the Master Installer programme to become a certified Quick-Step installer.

Lee Thompson, from the Academy for Excellence in Flooring, said: “We’ve trained professionals at every skill level, from brand new recruits to battle-scarred veterans, and everyone has been able to learn and improve their skills.

“Many time-served installers are surprised by the restrictions we place on basic tools such as tape measures, tapping blocks and hammers, instead employing new techniques to provide a better quality end result.

“In fact, most are truly surprised when we reveal that you can install pretty much any area, including notoriously difficult obstacles such as stairs, with nothing more than your hands, a pencil, some paper, a saw and two pieces of laminate. Of course, there is some insider knowledge that helps, but that’s only revealed to our course-goers!”

The Academy is now taking bookings for 2016 courses including Master Installer, Level 1, Measuring & Quoting and Wood Sanding & Finishing.

POLYFLOR’S HELPING HAND TO A

CARING COMMUNITY Vinyl flooring from Manchester-based manufacturer Polyflor was recently used to help refurbish Beechwood Cancer Care Centre in Stockport, Greater Manchester, in time to celebrate 25 years of supporting cancer patients.

Affinity255 heavy commercial luxury vinyl tiles, in the Saw Mill Oak design, were installed in communal meeting areas at the centre free of charge by flooring contractors, Paul’s Floors, with help from other local fitters.

The Beechwood Cancer Care Centre is a charity offering counselling, complementary therapies and group sessions to cancer patients and their families. The centre’s refurbishment was possible thanks to the £120,000 raised by the charity’s Silver Wing Appeal marking their 25 year anniversary.

Paul Southworth, of Paul’s Floors, commented: “The twitter.com/TContractFloors

Available in a variety of modern and traditional wood effect designs featuring authentic surface textures, tonal hues and grain detailing, the hardwearing Affinity255 collection of heavy commercial luxury vinyl tiles has been developed to create welcoming interiors that can cope with high levels of foot traffic.

This 2mm gauge floorcovering can be easily installed along other 2mm gauge products, blending seamlessly with Polyflor’s heterogeneous, homogeneous and slip-resistant safety flooring ranges. The range also features cross-linked and UV-cured polyurethane reinforcement (PUR), which offers a simple cleaning and maintenance regime.
