TRAINING IN NUMBERS As the year draws to a close, the Academy for Excellence in Flooring has revealed it’s trained someone for nearly every day of the year, with 350 people passing through its doors for specialist training.
Some 146 installers developed their skills in the Academy’s specialised training bays, learning to install Quick- Step wood, laminate and LVT flooring to the very highest standard. Of these, 122 were at Master Installer level, underlining the growing influence of the badge among flooring installers.
Now with 340 wood and laminate and 165 LVT Master Installers active in the UK, there is no doubt that the scheme is enjoying growing coverage across the country. As word of the scheme spreads, more and more homeowners are choosing Master Installers through the Quick-Step website. In fact, such has been the success of
the scheme that being fitted by a Master Installer, means that Quick- Step floors will come with a lifetime workmanship warranty on installation.
“The Master Installer scheme certainly offers both installers and
homeowners significant advantages,” commented Lee Thompson, Technical Manager. “It’s good to see so many installers realise the benefits the scheme can have for business and we look forward to expanding the network further throughout 2018.”
The Academy for Excellence in Flooring has also trained some 214 staff from builders’ merchants, retail and distribution businesses. Providing tailored content on product and installation, the courses have received excellent feedback, with attendees finding content hugely useful and informative, giving them the knowledge to inform customers better. One national builders’ merchant has already secured 18 dates for 2018.
The Academy is updating training bays and the breakout area for 2018, ensuring continued high standards of training and comfort for all attendees.

the Thames. FILAPROJECT provided a surface cleaning regime for Stone and Ceramic’s installation of marble flooring and wall surfaces, throughout bathrooms, master ensuites, hallways and living spaces.
Once the site of a fashionable hotel, with guests including Charles Dickens, The Star and Garter building was designed by Sir Edwin Cooper for The Royal Star & Garter Home charity for
Stone and Ceramic’s installation included exquisite honed and polished marble tiles and mosaics – from floors, skirtings and features, to walls, sills and vanity units – throughout the magnificent apartments. FILAPROJECT’s specification included four treatments from its cleaning range: concentrated acid detergent, FILA Deterdek, with its safe, buffered formulation; alkaline deep cleaner, FILAPS87; organic stain remover, FILASR95 and universal FILACLEANER. All treatments provided high performance whilst safe- guarding the natural characteristics of the fine marble surfaces.
