24 HOUR PARTY PEOPLE
With a nod towards the famous Haçienda nightclub, Sleeper magazine wakes up its office using DESSO Traverse carpet planks.
Leading publication for hotel design, development and architecture, Sleeper magazine recently underwent a full refurbishment to its head office, located in the iconic old Strawberry Studios in Stockport.
As experts in design, the Sleeper team had a clear vision for what they wanted and needed, turning to DESSO to help create an eye-catching flooring design.
Famed for being a popular recording studio between the 1960s-1990s, Strawberry Studios saw many musicians pass through its doors, including Paul McCartney. To build on this rich heritage Sleeper wanted to create a ‘Haçienda look’, transitioning from the existing magnolia office design to something that more closely reflected the company ethos.
For the flooring, the project’s interior designers, No Chintz, selected DESSO’s Traverse carpet planks in light and dark grey. Chosen for its design and durability, the result is the creation of a light, airy space with the iconic Haçienda stripes forming an integral part of the

design. The neutral shades and patterns help to create clear zones to outline social spaces and meeting rooms, setting them apart from the main office space. The bold stripe design differs between the breakfast bar, hot desk area, sofa area, meeting pods and meeting rooms, making it clear for employees and visitors to see where one area ends and another begins.
Tarkett’s Safetred Ion Linen vinyl flooring was also selected in a neutral grey tone for the kitchen area. The reinforced slip resistant flooring was the perfect choice for the cooking area and complements the DESSO carpet planks.
Rebecca Archacki, Commercial Director at Sleeper magazine, said: “The flooring is a key feature of the redesign and reinvigorated the space, helping to bring people together. The social space has a much warmer feel to it, whilst also keeping on brand with our company’s character, we’re all really pleased with the result.”
