Introducing the Dye Lab collection, one of Shaw Contract’s best- selling and eye-catching carpet tile collections.
Featuring intensely saturated hues, softer washes, and a range of neutral tones, Dye Lab is the result of Shaw Contract’s exploration of natural dyeing processes and pigment behaviours. The collection draws inspiration from natural dyes, mimicking the colour shifts rendered in naturally dyed textiles to create show-stopping unpredictable visuals with organic progressions.
Using techniques like folding, clamping and eco-bundling, Shaw Contract experimented with dyeing over 700 yarn colours to create the collection and developed an innovative dye infusion process to achieve the amorphous patterns and unique outcomes – each carpet tile is one of a kind in its shade and marbling.
Previously stocked only in the US, in response to growing demand, seven of the most popular colours from the Dye Lab collection are now available to the UK, European and Middle East market. Colours Cornflower; Saxon; Woad; Indigo; Henna; Iron; and Sumac are in stock this side of the Atlantic at Shaw Contract’s carbon neutral manufacturing plant in Sanquhar, Scotland.
Reducing the previous lead time for Dye Lab to just a few days, Shaw Contract has opened a wealth of creative possibilities for designers, architects, and specifiers to bring intimacy or expansive boldness with a distinct luxury feel to the spaces where we work, rest and come together.
In line with Shaw Contract’s commitment to people and planet, Dye Lab carpet tiles are installed with their EcoWorx backing – the first flooring product ever to be Cradle to Cradle Certified Silver. Up to 40% less energy is required in production and the PVC-free backing is covered by a lifetime warranty.
At the end of its useful life, Shaw Contract is committed to reclaiming and recycling the carpet tiles through their `re[TURN]’ scheme.
