HO HO HYGIENE
With people crowded together in shops, dining out, partying and travelling to visit family and friends, hand hygiene is vitally important at Christmas. Here, Tork looks at improving festive hand hygiene – particularly in public areas.
Christmas is a time for crowds. In the days leading up to the holiday our shops are filled with people all desperately seeking that ideal last- minute gift. At the same time the pubs, restaurants, hotels and clubs are packed during the evenings with revellers enjoying their office parties or indulging in pre-Christmas outings.

Meanwhile at home we are busy preparing for an influx of family and friends who are travelling from all over the country – maybe even the globe – to celebrate the season with us. But germs can quickly spread in any large gathering, particularly during the winter. The norovirus, too, is at its most active between November and April.
The simple acts of hand washing and drying can significantly reduce the risk of contracting colds, flu, norovirus and stomach bugs. This is becoming more widely accepted and is easily achievable at home where most of us have immediate access to running water, soap and towels.
