IMPROVING SKIN HEALTH IN COLD WORKING
ENVIRONMENTS With winter just around the corner, it’s time for organisations to focus on protecting employees working in low temperature and freezing environments. Stokoderm Frost, a specialist pre-work cream formulated by Deb, is designed to keep the hands, face and other exposed skin healthy in cold working conditions.
Exposure to the cold for long periods of time in a workplace can cause issues with dry skin and lead to severe long-term problems. Dry skin

HSG UK Managing Director Simon Rice explained: “Our installation and servicing teams have been working at Pizza Hut restaurants from Scotland down to the South West and the contract has now been successfully completed on time and to budget.
“It is a well-known fact that customers often judge the cleanliness of the kitchens by the state of the washrooms. Therefore, as well as the cost savings in water consumption and cleaning products, our proven and patented technology therefore ensures that customers get a good first impression of the premises and further endorses their brand. This
is an especially common problem during the winter, when the humidity level outside drops, the air outside is cold and dry, and the water in the skin evaporates more quickly.
Inadequate skin protection in workplaces, such as construction sites, can also seriously hamper workers’ productivity, particularly during the winter months. Also, developing an occupational skin disorders (OSDs) can affect workers’ morale, reduce their earnings and have a negative impact on those around them – including friends and family.
Research leaves no doubt about the seriousness of the problem: every year, around 3 million working days are lost to OSDs, costing the EU an estimated €600m. It is the second most common work-related health problem in Europe – and that is why Stokoderm Frost has been specially formulated to help prevent OSDs brought about by cold working conditions.
Part of the Deb Stoko Range, Stokoderm Frost has a dual-action formula that prevents skin dryness and allows users to apply the cream at sub-zero temperatures to -30˚C without it freezing. Dermatologically tested, it is safe to use on the hands, face and any other exposed skin. contributes to increased customer satisfaction, loyalty and return spend.”
Pizza Hut Restaurants Energy Manager Alex Wells added: “We expect the system to save us in excess of £125,000 a year in water bills across our restaurants. HSG has gone the extra mile to complete this contract and have given us truly excellent customer service across the UK.
“The urinal system is working extremely well in terms of reducing issues with blockages and odour. In fact, following the initial phase, a number of area managers requested it because it has been so effective in improving the washroom experience for customers.”

and freezing temperatures, and it helps maintain user comfort over the course of a working day.
A key feature is that it absorbs quickly into the skin, encouraging its use by its ease of application. This is reinforced by the cream’s compatibility with gloves and personal protective equipment (PPE) – giving workers extra protection on the job. It is ideal for outdoor workers and those working in refrigerated environments across the construction, mining, food, catering, warehousing and logistics industries.
Paul Jakeway, Marketing Director at Deb, said: “OSDs are a serious health issue that goes largely unreported in the workplace: an invisible threat that affects an organisation’s productivity, as well as the health and wellbeing of its employees. Workers in cold and freezing environments are at even higher risk of developing an OSD due to severe skin dryness.
“Keeping hands moisturised and healthy in the coldest of conditions is crucial in establishing a safe and productive workplace. That is where the Stokoderm Frost comes in. It is essential for maintaining effective skin health and reducing the risk of OSDs in users whose skin is exposed to cold working conditions.”
