Shout it from the rooftops
As the big 2019 finalist shortlist reveal draws close, ECJ editor and ECHA founder Michelle Marshall gives some handy hints and tips on making the most of your finalist status.
The cleaning and hygiene sector has long been viewed in a negative light, with a poor reputation for being low skilled and low paid. People from outside the industry often don’t understand, or hear about, the fantastic work being done to support issues such as diversity, sustainability and innovation.
This is the very reason why the European Cleaning & Hygiene Awards exist: to raise the profile of our industry and share the excellent work that is taking place across the sector.
This year we’ve been overwhelmed by the entries we’ve received. It’s been a record year for nominations and it’s been so uplifting to read so many positive stories from new and familiar faces. The judges now have the hard task of whittling the entries down into a shortlist, and in just a few weeks, all will be revealed.
In the spirit of celebrating success and rewarding excellence, we’re really keen to see the finalists really shouting about it this year. Why wait to find out if you’re a winner before making any noise? Making it to the final stage is a huge achievement and something that we believe should be shared with the world.

some top tips for promoting your European Cleaning & Hygiene Awards journey:
Go Social
Social media is a great way to instantly share your success with the world. Whether you’re on Facebook, Linkedin or Twitter, a few posts to update your followers can really make a difference. Customers can see that you’re getting recognised for your efforts and it’s a good reputation builder with potential new clients. We will be tweeting away as usual to shine the spotlight on our finalists so look out for your name check and don’t forget to use our hashtag – #ECHA19 – if you tweet about it, too.
Public Relations
From sharing your news with our sector’s fantastic press to telling your local paper, a press release could really help boost your profile. For the first time ever, this year we’ll be sharing a PR pack with all our finalists, which will include a press release that can be tailored and sent out to the publications of your choice. Go and grab yourself some column inches.
Share with your customers
Add our logo to your email signature. Post the press release on your website. Include it in your latest newsletter. Your customers will want to hear that you’re doing well, so why not tell them directly?
Communicatioin innovation
Our 2018 winners, Insider Facility Services, really started something after their win last year. They got European Cleaning & Hygiene Awards vinyl stickers created and placed them on every van in their fleet. What a way to spread the news.
If you make it onto our shortlist this year, get the celebrations started early, and be sure to shout it from the rooftops. After all, it’s about time we gave ourselves a pat on the back for our commitment to the sector.
