Christeyns win Employer of the
Year award Specialist chemical manufacturer Christeyns has won the Employer of the Year award at the ninth annual Bradford Means Business Awards.
The awards ceremony, held at City Park in Bradford on 19 July,
celebrates all that is great about business in Bradford, and the companies putting the city on the map.
The Employer of the Year award is presented to an outstanding company that has demonstrated strong investment in their employees, in their health and wellbeing, as well as offering a range of key employee benefits. Companies also needed to be able to demonstrate that the safety and security of their employees is of the utmost importance.
For Nick Garthwaite, MD at Christeyns, treating employees like family is what makes the business a success. He said: “I think that being recognised as the employer of the year stands out as THE award to win in many respects. As a business we care about our employees. Whether a manager or an apprentice, all are treated with the same respect and given the same opportunities and benefits.”
The firm was also a finalist in the Manufacturer of the Year category.
Christeyns UK is part of the Christeyns group, based in Ghent, Belgium. Its principal focus is the manufacture and supply of detergents and supporting chemicals for the commercial laundry sector across the UK.

www.bics.org.uk Man made to mop up own
mess A man caught urinating outside of a railway station was made to clean it up by the police, who handed him a mop and supervised the clean-up.
Despite the station’s toilets being open at the time, British Transport Police (BTP) Three Counties caught the man at around 1PM at Worcester Foregate Street station on Sunday 28 July.
Officers called the man’s actions ‘unacceptable’, and once the clean up
job was complete, he was not allowed to travel on the railway and was asked to leave the station.
BTP said there was no legislation for the mop and bucket, it was just ‘common sense’ to dole out this form of punishment.
