RAI Amsterdam, organisers of the Interclean Amsterdam exhibition, were forced in early March to postpone Interclean Amsterdam 2020, due to the rapid spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Originally set to take place from 12 – 15 May at the RAI Amsterdam exhibition centre, given the travel restrictions quickly being put into place, the decision was made to delay the show until ‘Fall 2020’ in order to protect both attendees and the quality of the show itself.
Bas Dalm, Executive Vice President Exhibition & Sales at RAI Amsterdam, commented: “In view of the global economic challenges triggered by the Coronavirus in the first half of the year, moving the show to the Fall offers great opportunities. Thus, the world’s most important industrial trade fair can provide important impetus for global economy at an early stage at a time when it is much needed in view of global health issues.”
On Friday 20 March, RAI Amsterdam finally announced that Interclean Amsterdam 2020 was rescheduled to occur on 3 – 6 November 2020, once again at the RAI Amsterdam exhibition centre.
Rob den Hertog, Director of Interclean, said: “Finding these dates was not only based on the availability of exhibition space, we also took into account the availability of hotel accommodation, which is a necessity for an international event like Interclean. With the new dates we have ensured you will still be able to see all of the original major exhibitors.”
Similarly, the Manchester Cleaning Show 2020 was postponed from its original 25 – 26 March dates, and pushed back by almost six months, with the show now set to take place at Event City, Manchester, on 15 – 16 September 2020.
Paul Thrupp, Chair of the British Cleaning Council, added: “It is regrettable that we have had to postpone the Manchester Cleaning Show but, in the circumstances, it is clearly the right decision. Like the organisers of the many other major events in the UK and around the world which have been postponed, we felt we could not go ahead when the Coronavirus crisis is likely to get worse in the immediate future.”

Clean Buildings Expo (CBE), which was to be held alongside the National Facilities Management and Technology (NFMT) Conference and Expo in Baltimore, were delayed from their original 17 – 19 March dates. CBE will now take place 11 – 12 August while NFMT will be 11 - 13 August, both at the Baltimore Convention Center.
Cleaning Products Europe, which was originally due to take place from 16 – 18 March in Amsterdam, was also postponed, however as of the time of writing no new dates have yet to be announced for this show. The British Institute of Cleaning Science was also forced to cancel its CLEAN2020 conference, which was set to take place at the National Conference Centre, Birmingham, on 23 April.
Given the fast-moving nature of the Coronavirus and how quickly things can change, many of the new dates may yet still be further impacted, and will continue to be subject to change. Tomorrow’s Cleaning will continue to bring you the latest information on postponements, date changes and event cancellations.
