Sustainable Flooring Sponsor Flowcrete’s message for FMs
The Cheshire-based industrial and commercial flooring manufacturer, Flowcrete UK, offers facilities managers the reassurance of pioneering industrial and commercial systems built on 30 years’ experience, with an ongoing commitment to innovation and sustainability to ensure the
profession gets more from floors underfoot. Recycling is a key driver across the business’s operations and Flowcrete UK has reintroduced a number of recycled products from heavy industry waste streams into its manufacturing processes, including pulverised fuel ash (PFA) and ground granulated blast furnace slag.
Where possible, Flowcrete also supplies materials in bulk using re-usable UN Certified Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBC’s) or recyclable drum containers in preference to small packed systems, in order to reduce the quantity of non-reusable packaging and waste.
Energy Efficiency is another important feature across the company. Flowcrete’s Isowarm Under Floor Heating ensures thermal comfort by delivering invisible and controllable heat underfoot - combined with possible energy savings of up to 30% when compared to traditional heating systems such as radiators or air conditioning.
Isowarm is also a key part of Flowcrete UK’s pioneering flooring package the GREEN Floorzone – the most sustainable and complete flooring solution available from a single manufacturer, detailed at

Featuring the substrate through to final floor finish, with the option of Isowarm underfloor heating and sound-proofing built-in, GREEN Floorzone is ideal for new build and refurbishment projects. This single- source, single-warranty floor build- up programme includes choices in resin floor finish and self-levelling screed, as well as an energy-saving underfloor heating system and noise reducing acoustic layer.
All seamless resin floor finishes are supported by Flowcrete’s market-leading and newly enhanced Isocrete Floor Screeds range, which have been given a green makeover with a new formulation free from Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC), and manufactured from a high percentage of recycled raw materials.
Along with the optional element of Isowarm underfloor heating in The GREEN, FM’s can also specifiy Isocrete Acoustic Foam, which reduces sound transfer between floors and is of particular benefit for multi-level occupancy buildings such as offices.
Coupled with sustainability is innovation. Flowcrete products include Flowfast, the speedy floor finish ready for use just two hours after application, which uses ‘Methylmethacrylate’ (MMA) technology to put flooring projects on the fast track.
Commercial flooring from Flowcrete also includes super-smooth resin floor toppings, slip resistant quartz floor finishes and sparkling flake flooring systems. External floor surfaces are also available, including exterior resin bound gravel landscaping systems and car park coatings that both protect and enhance surfaces.

However, the systems are not just about aesthetics - they are also built to last. For example, Flowcrete’s contemporary seamless terrazzo Mondéco offers a life expectancy of up to 25 years, while the company’s self-levelling resins are in place for some 10 years.
This longer life-cycle approach means less cost to re-install a new floor on a frequent basis and also offers environmental benefits in terms of waste.
And keeping a floor looking in tip- top condition is also made easy with Flowcrete’s seamless, joint- free surface. This means no cracks and crevices where dirt can dwell, making the floor easy-to-clean and maintain.
As well as providing flooring options for commercial sector specialists, Flowcrete also offers best in class solutions for the industrial sector.
This offer is highlighted in its ongoing campaign ‘Get More From Floors’. The online campaign, located at
www.flowcrete.co.uk/campaigns/ get-more-from-floors pulls together content from a variety of sources including video, case studies and technical data, to show FMs and other property professionals how to achieve a fit-for-purpose floor system underfoot in manufacturing and processing areas.
Alan Dean, Managing Director of Flowcrete UK, said: “Our flooring solutions offer FMs tasked with the selection of a suitable system a time-proven range to meet all of their requirements - both functional and aesthetic – with sustainability in mind.”
