Recofloor is the UK’s first joint industry-led vinyl flooring recycling scheme, established by leading flooring manufacturers Altro and Polyflor, and managed by resource recovery specialist Axion Consulting. Waste vinyl material is collected from flooring contractors, construction sites, schools, hospitals, large PFI sites. Recofloor accepts clean post-installation vinyl made by any manufacturer and end-of-life vinyl as long as it meets specifications.
Smooth and safety off-cuts are recycled back into new flooring products. Smooth uplifted flooring goes back into traffic calming products such as cones and sign bases. Recofloor’s 350-plus members across the UK and Ireland comprise flooring contractors, drop-off sites at flooring distributors and waste transfer stations. The scheme’s flexibility enables all supply chain sectors to engage in recycling. This helps local authorities, distributors, contractors and facilities managers to divert growing volumes of waste vinyl flooring from landfill - reducing disposal costs and helping firms to meet their sustainability goals.
