wsma middle level state honors music project

2026 WSMA Middle Level State Honors Alec Balge, WSMA Program Manager

In preparation for the 2026 WSMA Middle Level State Honors Project October event, the Middle Level State Honors staff met at the Madison Youth Arts building in July. The meeting allowed the coordinators and staff members to meet new staff, review the staff expectations for October and prepare the communication and music mailings that were sent to the invited students in late July.

Over 300 young musicians have been invited to participate in the 2026 WSMA Middle Level State Honors ensembles. These students have the opportunity to experience an unbelievable amount of musical growth and development that af- fects how they think about and play music for the rest of their life. WSMA is grateful for the dedication and commitment of the teachers who encourage students to audi- tion and help make this experience possible.

Conductors for the 2026 honors ensembles include Dr. Michael Golemo (band), Dr. Jeffery Redding (choir) and James Fel- lenbaum (orchestra). Biographies for all conductors are available on the Middle Level State Honors Project webpages.

Registration and rehearsals for the WSMA Middle Level State Honors Band, Choir and Orchestra will be held at Verona Area High School on Friday, Oct. 30, and Saturday, Oct. 31. The Saturday concerts will be at 3 p.m. (band), 4 p.m. (orchestra) and 5 p.m. (choir) in the Performing Arts Center of Verona Area High School. All concerts are open to the public and tickets may be purchased at the door or ordered in advance at wsmamusic.org. A purchased ticket can

be used to attend any or all of the three separate concerts that afternoon.
