The measures and metrics through which we have reduced our ecological impact

Cambro’s journey to large-scale sustainability efforts is just beginning. Our first step in our sustainability program is to define the boundaries and magnitude of our environmental footprint. This process started in 2023 through the CDP Disclosure process and is ongoing.

On a smaller scale, some of Cambro’s recently completed projects, 2023-2024, implemented to reduce our company’s environmental footprint include:

• Installation and commissioning of a 375kW solar array on our distribution warehouse, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 530 tonnes/yr.

• Replacement of our diesel-powered yard truck with an electric yard truck, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 266 tonnes/yr.

• Installation of electric car charging stations for warehouse employees to promote clean-energy commuting.

Through the CDP disclosure process, Cambro investigated various sustainability metric options that will allow us to:

• Determine our manufacturing facility’s baseline environmental impacts to determine where we are today.

• Establish meaningful goals and targets for our future. Cambro selected facility-specific sustainability metrics of:

o Energy Intensity in units of MWh per Tonne Plastic Throughput.

o Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Intensity in units of Tonne CO2e per Tonne Plastic Throughput.

These two sustainability metrics have been determined to be reliably calculated year-over-year, meaningful in showing future trends, and an effective means of setting sustainability targets and goals for Cambro operations.
