35 Particle Characterisation

Comprehensive particle sizing solutions

Meritics Ltd offers particle sizing instruments using numerous techniques from world-leading manufacturers to offer the best solution for you.

Meritics has earned the distinction of being chosen by respected manufacturers to represent their particle analysers. The company’s specialised service sets it apart, often surpassing the capabilities of conventional direct sales channels. This expertise encompasses diverse areas, including gas analysers, centrifuges, and fume cabinets. Unlike general suppliers, Meritics maintains a concentrated focus on particle characterisation, underscoring its role as a specialised partner in this domain.

In today’s context, effective particle characterisation and control play a pivotal role across various industries. Size uniformity significantly impacts manufacturing processes, overall performance, and the quality experienced by end users. Meritics addresses these critical aspects with bespoke solutions that include assessments of solubility and dissolution for drug delivery applications, as well as evaluations of powder flowability to enhance manufacturing efficiency.

Among its comprehensive offerings, Meritics offers two globally acclaimed laser diffraction particle size analysers from Beckman Coulter and Bettersize. Instrument selection is guided by clients’ unique requirements, ensuring prompt and precise particle size results for both wet and dry dispersions. The company possesses the capability to facilitate seamless method and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) transfers from older instruments or alternate manufacturers. This seamless transition maintains the consistency of reports and results.

Meritics provides a comprehensive and open-minded product lineup to cater to diverse needs, including Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (NTA), Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) for Zeta Potential analysis, Coulter Counters, and Tuneable Resistive Pulse Sensing (TRPS). Additionally, the company’s expertise extends to assessments of powder flow behaviour, complementing its holistic approach to particle characterisation.

New particle size analyser

Anton Paar welcomes a new, even more capable way to characterise particles. The Litesizer DLS 700, the new, high-end particle size analyser, determines particle concentration precisely and faultlessly. By using multi-angle particle sizing (MAPS), it achieves the highest resolution for different peaks, making it our most capable particle sizing instrument to date.

All of the features you’ve come to enjoy from the Litesizer DLS 500 instrument are also part of the DLS 700. Such features include, besides others, the characterisation of nanoparticles and microparticles at three measurement angles, including automatic angle selection. The measurement of zeta potential with our patented cmPALS technology, in combination with the unique Omega shaped cuvettes, allows for faster, more precise measurements and higher repeatability (+/- 3%) compared to conventionally- used methods. Additionally, the DLS 700 and 500 also offer the measurement of molecular mass, continuous transmittance measurements and determination of the refractive index of solvents.

Users can manage all of these features with Kalliope, the user-friendly and intuitive measurement software of Litesizer DLS 700. The software also includes the brand-new play list feature that allows users predefine a series of measurements consisting of

different measurement modes with minimum user interaction, as well as tailored reporting options combining results from different measuring modes within one report. Enjoy all the benefits from Kalliope software, where one-page workflows, measurement overviews and three-click results maximise efficiency and save time and resources. The ultimate solution for liquid formula stability testing

Microtrac has enhanced its particle characterisation tools with the addition of the globally acclaimed TURBISCAN analyser range, offering the ultimate solution for assessing the physical stability of liquid formulas. The patented Static Multiple Light Scattering (SMLS) technology empowers direct characterisation of native liquid dispersions, facilitating rapid and sensitive identification of destabilisation mechanisms. The temperature- controlled measurement cell in TURBISCAN enables stability monitoring at specific storage temperatures or the acceleration of the destabilisation process. The latest addition, TURBISCAN DNS, introduces a mixing function for analysing the dispersibility of formulas, providing a new dimension to the analysis.

Comprising 5 instruments with diverse sample capacities and temperature ranges, the TURBISCAN range proves invaluable for research and development (R&D), quality control (QC), and quality assurance (QA) labs. TURBISCAN revolutionises stability detection, delivering results up to 1,000 times faster than visual testing. The Turbiscan Stability Index (TSI) scale enables the quantification of global formula alteration, allowing for the comparison and characterisation of the physical stability of formulations using a single, comparable, and reproducible number.

Today, TURBISCAN analysers find application across various industries and sectors, including Specialty Chemicals and Polymers, Pharmaceuticals, Food and Beverages, Home and Personal Care, Coatings, Paints, Inks, Batteries and Electronics, Oil and Lubricants, and more.

Experience the TURBISCAN advantage today and elevate your liquid formula stability. More information online: ilmt.co/PL/NAKJ
