41 Centrifuges, Stirrers & Shakers Extended Centrifuge Portfolio Addresses Separation Needs

Eppendorf has expanded its centrifuge offering with the acquisition of the centrifugation business of the Japanese company Koki Holdings Co, Ltd, whose products were marketed globally under the brand name Himac in 2020. The introduction of the portfolio under the Eppendorf umbrella began with the launch of the CP22N and CP30NX high-speed, floor-standing centrifuges in 2021 and has now been completed with the addition of the CP-NX and CS-(F)NX series ultracentrifuges this month. These new models enrich the Eppendorf portfolio with comprehensive solutions for customers working in fields such as molecular biology, biochemistry and cell biology. The extended product line, which includes rotors, adapters, consumables and services, enables Eppendorf to provide centrifugation solutions for an even broader range of applications at speeds up to 150,000 rpm (1,050,000 x g).

Eppendorf’s new premium ultracentrifuges and micro-ultracentrifuges expand on its commitment to providing high quality products designed for optimal performance and ease-of-use. Their ergonomic design - including a large touch screen, fast start-up time, compact design, and low noise level - provides quick and comfortable operation. The unique rotor life management system of the CP-NX series enables convenient tracking of rotor usage, eliminating the need for manual logbooks and extending the overall rotor lifetime. Smart, non-contact imbalance sensors safeguard users during ultra-speed applications and allow for quick sample balancing by eye (within 5 mm sample height difference), with no need for scales. Eppendorf is dedicated to ensuring reliable performance with expanded service solutions for both new and existing Himac high-s peed and ultracentrifuges worldwide.

New Shaker-incubator with Advanced Cooling Capability

The ES-20/80C shaker-incubator from Biosan for biotechnological and pharmaceutical laboratories is a professional category equipment. The typical applications include – microbial and cell culture cultivation, protein expression, solubility studies, general mixing, as well as other various applications in the fields of biology and chemistry. The unit is equipped with a newly developed triple eccentric mechanism for platform motion that provides supreme balancing characteristics, superior reliability and quiet operation. The achieved stability of the unit during vigorous mixing allows for stacking installation of up to 3 units which enables to save space.

The new display and easy to use user interface provide a clear and intuitive control of parameters and allow data logging, storage and display over time. Additional features, such as out of balance sensor and automatic thermostat failure detection make this shaker-incubator an advanced and safe product. Bluetooth connectivity to PC allows for data management, data logging, parameter control and profiling in a dedicated software that can be requested separately.

A combination of an electric heating element and a built-in heat-resistant brushless fan provide precise temperature distribution inside the chamber up to +80°C. Cooling of the chamber is provided by additional Peltier modules allowing to cool until 12.5°C below the ambient temperature. Additionally, an excellent sample temperature uniformity of ± 0.2°C at 37°C is achieved. The inner chamber is made of stainless steel. State-of-the-art motor, thermal insulation materials and parameter PID-control decrease the energy consumption and make the shaker-incubator highly energy efficient despite its relatively large size.

Available accessories range from dedicated platforms for different capacity flasks to universal platform with optional fixation clamps, test tube racks and sticky mats. To learn more visit Biosan on stand B1.110 at analytica 2022. More information online: ilmt.co/PL/24VE

New Corrosion Resistant Analogue Hot Plates and Stirrers

Torrey Pines Scientific, Inc announces its new line of corrosion resistant multi-position stirring analogue hot plates and stirrers featuring 5 or 9 stirring positions making them ideal for acid digestions and working with most any corrosive solutions.

The large 12” (305 mm) square ceramic heater tops have a temperature range to 450°C. A purge port on the rear on the units is provided for purging with a positive pressure of any inert gas. Most chassis openings have been closed. This keeps corrosive vapours from getting inside the units and protects the electronics and stirrer motors.

The 5-position stirring units can stir 5-800ml beakers, and the 9-position units can stir 9-500ml beakers of corrosive aqueous solutions from 100 to 1500 rpm. Each stirring position is individually controlled.

The units measure 19” (432 mm) deep by 12.5” (318 mm) wide by 5.25” (134 mm) tall. They can support more than 50 pounds (22.6kg) on the plate surface. All controls are mounted well in forward of the heater surface to protect against accidental burns, and the units are designed to keep spills out of the chassis.

The units are available in 115VAC/60Hz, 220VAC/60Hz, and 230VAC/50Hz. They have a main AC on/off switch and are fused for safety. They are supplied with user’s manual and detachable line cord for the country of use. All units are UL, CSA and CE or equivalent rated.
