Bespoke calibration rigs unlock ultra-low flow ultrasonic measurement meter, offering a competitive
Titan Enterprises has published a technical paper detailing how its team tackled calibration challenges in pioneering ultrasonic flowmeter development for ultra-low flow applications.
Recognising that no off-the-shelf system could meet the precise requirements of its latest research, Titan designed bespoke calibration rigs in-house to support next-generation ultra- low flow and clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeters. Existing production rigs - three certified piston provers operating across 2 ml/min to 200 l/ min with ±0.05% uncertainty - were heavily used and insufficient for the novel testing parameters required for advanced R&D.
The new ultra-low flow calibration rig is central to two major innovations. First, an ultrasonic flowmeter capable of measuring flows as low
as 0.2 ml/min, roughly ten times lower than Titan’s Atrato®
alternative to thermal devices. Second, a clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter designed for disposable medical tubing, targeting applications such as dialysis and bolus drug delivery where accuracy, sterility, and cost- effectiveness are critical.
To achieve these capabilities, Titan developed a state-of-the-art miniature piston prover system featuring dual synchronised stepping motors with rotational encoders for precise tracking. The system incorporates computer- controlled flow ranges, bolus simulation, and extensive data output for in-depth performance analysis. Complex mechanical and hydraulic factors - such as valve synchronisation, linear motion stability, drive stiffness, tubing

compliance, and temperature effects - were carefully addressed, alongside safety features including end-of-stroke detection.
“By building our own calibration infrastructure, we are unlocking new performance frontiers for both industrial and medical flow applications,” said Neil Hannay, Senior R&D Engineer.
Titan’s in-house calibration and testing capability accelerates the path from prototype to verified product. Proprietary software enables rapid evaluation of multiple real-world scenarios, ensuring customer processes are optimised. The design principles established in this project also pave the way for future developments, including novel fluid test units and fully temperature-controlled systems, supporting cutting-edge solutions for universal
applications and OEM-specific needs.

Dual-stage vacuum pump for demanding degassing
PIPETBOY GENIUS for everything from media preparation and cell collection to transferring samples and filling cell banks. It’s precise, quiet, and feels like an extension of my hand.”
Melbourne-based Celleo Biotech is enhancing reproducibility and efficiency in its cell and gene therapy workflows with the PIPETBOY GENIUS serological pipet controller from Integra Biosciences. Designed for effortless liquid handling, the device features a repeat dispense function that saves time while ensuring consistent results across multiple cell culture tasks.
Nicholas Boyd, Head of Biology at Celleo, explained how the pipet controller has transformed daily lab work: “We use the
Paired with Integra’s calibrated serological pipets, the PIPETBOY GENIUS allows Celleo to dispense exact volumes with confidence, improving both the accuracy and reproducibility of critical procedures. “This combination has simplified my work enormously and boosted the reliability of our results,” Boyd added. “It’s an amazing tool that makes lab life much easier.”
By integrating the PIPETBOY GENIUS into its biology workflows, Celleo Biotech is taking another step toward streamlining GMP production systems and making advanced cell and gene therapies more broadly accessible.

Smarter pipetting: Built for precision, made for you
Eppendorf has officially introduced its newest generation of mechanical pipettes, the Research® 3 neo, now available worldwide. Designed for scientists who demand precision but also value comfort and flexibility, the Research 3 neo combines trusted Eppendorf performance with smart innovations that adapt to any workflow.
At the core of the Research 3 neo is adaptability. With a simple switch, users can choose between fast or fine volume setting speeds, making it just as effective for high-throughput tasks as it is for meticulous assays. The pipette also offers temporary adjustments for liquid type,
tip geometry, reverse pipetting, or even altitude - delivering consistent accuracy without the need of recalibration. New ColorTag rings (sold separately) provide an easy way to label pipettes for personal or team use.
Eppendorf has reimagined ergonomics with a shorter pipetting button, lightweight balance, and an ergonomic finger hook to reduce strain during long pipetting sessions. Low tip attachment and ejection forces add to the comfort, ensuring effortless use without sacrificing speed.
True to Eppendorf’s reputation, the Research 3
neo exceeds ISO 8655 standards when paired with epT.I.P.S.®
tips. A newly integrated volume
lock prevents accidental changes, giving scientists added confidence in every experiment.
Beyond precision, the Research 3 neo also sets new standards for eco-conscious lab tools. Manufactured in an ISO 14001 certified facility powered entirely by renewable energy, the pipette carries the ACT®
responsible design. It arrives in recycled, recyclable packaging and is compatible with epT.I.P.S.®

Biotech Fluidics has launched the StabiliX™ dual-stage vacuum pump, designed to enhance fluidic degassing by combining durability, consistency, and long-term reliability.
The StabiliX™ range is engineered for degassing applications where dissolved gases and bubbles can disrupt fluid handling.
Available in analytical and prep scale models, the pumps are quiet, robust, and compatible with the full line of DEGASi® inline degassers.
Featuring a fully inert wetted path, StabiliX™ pumps efficiently remove gas bubbles from nearly any fluid.
The analytical version is optimised for standard degassing chambers, while the prep scale model is tailored to high-flow applications or fluids with low vapour
pressure, effectively managing solvent pervaporation.
Next-generation design options include bottom- and side-mounted configurations, offering flexible integration into existing systems.
