SPOTLIGHT FEATURE Sample Preparation & Processing
Streamlined solid synthesis and processing solutions
AGI Glassplant Filter Reactors simplify your workflow, save your lab time, and prevent contamination of your chemistry. Offering reaction and filtration capabilities in a single system with capacities of up to 30 L, they are suitable for use in R&D, process development, and production plants. The ideal solution for a wide range of chemical applications, with proven performance in both research and production environments, AGI Glassplant systems are a trusted investment for scalable, high-quality filtration in chemical, pharmaceutical, and materials science applications.
Synthesise, wash, isolate, and dry solids all within the same vessel. AGI Glassplant Filter Reactors feature user-friendly filter fittings
that can be easily uncoupled, lowered, and positioned for product collection without mess. Loss of valuable filtrate is eliminated by a double PTFE gasket design that sandwiches the filter cloth, locking it in place.
AGI Glassplant Filter Reactors are ideal if your product yield depends on having reproducible thermal conditions. Our glass vessels feature complete jacket coverage around the glass cylinder for maximum thermal transfer for uniform thermal treatment in crystallisation or solid treatment processes.
Cost-effective filtration for every scale: Benchtop Filter Reactor: 1 L to 5 L, operating temperature range of -40°C to +200°C; Pilot Plant Filter Reactor Plus: 10 L to 30 L,
High-yield protein extraction from bacterial cells
SoluLyse™ from Amsbio offers a fast, efficient, and gentle method for extracting soluble proteins from bacterial cells. Using a proprietary non-ionic detergent formulation, SoluLyse™ perforates bacterial cell walls without denaturing proteins - eliminating the need for laborious secondary treatments such as sonication or freeze-thaw cycles.
Compared with other commercial lysis reagents, SoluLyse™ can increase soluble protein yields by up to ten-fold, making it ideal for both small- and large-scale protein extraction.
Proteins extracted with SoluLyse™ are fully compatible with downstream applications including affinity purification and analysis. The reagent can also be used to isolate high- purity inclusion bodies from total cell lysates.
With a simple, one-step protocol, SoluLyse™ delivers consistent, high-throughput results for bacterial protein research.
A recent study in PNAS Nexus (OUP, 2025) highlighted its effectiveness in demanding
membrane protein studies. Broad compatibility with bacterial strains such as E. coli BL21 and standard affinity systems (GST, His) makes SoluLyse™ a versatile addition to any protein-expression lab.

65987pr@reply-direct.com Rapid, reliable sterility testing
Traditional sterility tests can take up to 14 days - far too long for life-saving drugs and cutting-edge cell and gene therapies, many of which cannot be tested using standard membrane filtration methods. Even minimal contamination is unacceptable, making fast, sensitive, and reliable sterility testing essential.
Alpha Laboratories now offers RiboNAT™ by FUJIFILM Wako, a rapid sterility solution designed for speed and accuracy. Using Nucleic Acid Amplification (NAT) technology and targeting ribosomal RNA (rRNA) via RT- rPCR, RiboNAT delivers precise results in just 7 hours. By focusing on rRNA - which is more abundant in microorganisms than genomic DNA - the test achieves high sensitivity (9 CFU/mL) while detecting a broad range of bacteria and fungi. It also reduces false positives from dead cells and residual DNA, thanks to a nucleic acid inactivator and DNase.
With RiboNAT, laboratories can reliably screen samples in a single day, supporting faster

Innovative IR hotplate/stirrer for precision lab applications
Experience the cutting-edge design of the Wiggens WH390-NH, featuring the latest infrared heating technology for efficient and powerful heating (2000 W). This innovative hotplate-stirrer is engineered to rapidly heat various vessel shapes, including round-bottom flasks, reaching a maximum temperature of 550°C in a very short time.
Benefiting from Schott glass ceramic surface technology, the WH390-NH ensures chemical resistance, high surface quality, and temperature shock resistance exceeding 700°C. The poreless smooth surface facilitates easy cleaning, while the high infrared
permeability ensures rapid and efficient liquid heating, optimising time and energy usage.
Equipped with three pre-set PID options for different volume heating applications, the WH390-NH self-optimises for perfect temperature stability. Connection of a Pt-100 sensor enables temperature-controlled work with a remarkable stability of +/- 2°C in most applications.
Beyond its swift heating and precise temperature control, the WH390-NH offers controlled liquid mixing from gentle to intense, making it suitable for large-volume viscous media. Separate control knobs enable independent management of stirring and
heating functions, while a user-friendly touch screen provides visibility and monitoring of essential parameters.
The WH390-NH’s memory function for stirring speed and temperature settings adds convenience to experiments, ensuring a consistent starting point. The residual-heat display enhances user safety, preventing burns. With its array of features, the Wiggens hotplate stirrer emerges as the premier solution for efficient and versatile liquid heating and mixing in laboratory settings, catering to diverse applications, including the exacting requirements of cannabis extraction.
