SPOTLIGHT FEATURE Sample Preparation & Processing

Fast, reliable DNA and RNA extraction Primerdesign’s exsig®

Mag RapidBead Pro

Extraction kit is a next-generation solution that uses magnetic bead technology to deliver fast, reliable purification of DNA and RNA from a wide variety of sample types.

The kit’s streamlined workflow allows high-quality DNA and RNA extraction in under 20 minutes, helping researchers move quickly from sample to PCR testing without sacrificing yield or purity. Optimised magnetic particles efficiently capture nucleic

acids while a single wash step removes impurities, delivering clean material ready for downstream real-time PCR applications.

Designed for versatility, the RapidBead Pro kit works with human, veterinary, environmental, and food samples, including challenging matrices such as stool, serum, RNA viruses, and both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Its four-step protocol reduces hands-on time, lowers contamination risk, and is compatible with both manual and automated platforms.

Available in two sizes to match Primerdesign’s genesig®

qPCR kits, the

RapidBead Pro Extraction kit offers an end- to-end solution for reliable, sensitive, and consistent nucleic acid testing.

The kit is available for research use worldwide. More information online: ilmt.co/PL/qB8b

His-tagged protein quantification kit for proteomics workflows

Abselion has expanded its Amperia™ platform with a Tagged Protein Quantification Kit | His-tag and a Tagged Protein Sensor | His-tag Quantification, developed in collaboration with GenScript. The ready-to-use kit allows rapid, reliable measurement of His-tagged proteins directly from crude or purified samples, simplifying recombinant protein analysis.

His-tags are widely used in protein purification and detection across bacterial, insect, and mammalian expression systems. Traditional quantification methods can be slow and variable, but Abselion’s electrochemical assay offers a fast, reproducible alternative for drug

discovery, structural biology, and bioprocess development.

The Amperia platform uses Redox Electrochemical Detection (RED) for automated, optics-free quantification. Each kit includes pre-coated sensor strips, assay plates, detection

reagents, and buffers, while the standalone sensor option provides flexibility for custom workflows.

Dr Ruizhi Wang, CEO of Abselion, said: “Our His-tag launch is one of the first automated electrochemical kits for crude samples, giving researchers faster and more dependable ways to quantify His-tagged proteins and extend Amperia into one of the most widely used areas of protein science.”

Amsbio has published a new blog exploring why its CELLBANKER®

cryopreservation

solutions offer a safer, more consistent alternative to ‘homebrew’ cryopreservation media.

Homebrew formulations - typically a mix of DMSO, serum, and basal medium - are often chosen for their lower cost or lab-specific needs. However, their effectiveness can vary dramatically depending on the cell type, preparation method, and even serum batch. This variability can lead to inconsistent results, added validation work, and increased contamination risk.

CELLBANKER® takes the guesswork out of

cryopreservation. Manufactured under strict quality controls using chemically defined, sterile components, it delivers reproducible performance every time. Ready-to-use and traceable, it removes in-lab mixing and reduces the risk of contamination, while supporting regulatory compliance and long-term sample integrity.

For sensitive cell types such as primary cells, iPSCs, or organoids, CELLBANKER®

ensures

higher post-thaw viability and reproducibility compared with serum-based homebrew media. Its GMP-grade formulations are also competitively priced, allowing researchers to adopt clinical-grade materials early in development without a costly transition later - simplifying validation and avoiding expensive requalification.

The blog features technical references and testimonials from internationally recognised organoid and stem cell research groups, highlighting real-world success with CELLBANKER®

.
