50 Gas Detection High Performance Multi-Gas Detector
MSA (Germany) has once again redefined the high performance multi-gas detector with the new ALTAIR 5. Capable of measuring up to six gases simultaneously, the ALTAIR 5 can be fitted with a wide range of both toxic and infra-red sensors, providing the flexibility required to meet most applications. There is even the option to have a diffusion instrument or one with a built-in pump.
The multifunctional alarms, MotionAlert and InstantAlert, are standard on the ALTAIR 5. When enabled, the MotionAlert with motion detector alerts anyone in the vicinity if the user is in distress with audible and visual alarms. The user can also alert anyone nearby with a 3 second button press, activating the InstantAlert alarm. The ALTAIR 5 comes with the proven high performance triple alarm system, 24 hour bump test checkmark and comprehensive data-logging facility as standard.
On top of this ALTAIR 5 can offer the Wireless USB option that allows the integration into the alpha Personal Network. This monitoring and alarm system consists of modular and wireless components. These can be individually integrated to enable those wearing breathing apparatus and portable gas detection equipment to be easily monitored by sending information to a central control station. Gas readings and alarms can now be transmitted and displayed in real time.
Gas concentrations and other data can be seen at a glance via the full graphical monochrome display or the optional high resolution colour display which provides simple yet comprehensive information instantly and can be customised with a company logo.
The rechargeable battery provides up to 15 hours of continuous operation from a charge time of up to six hours. With reliability a key factor, ALTAIR 5 has an extremely durable rubberised housing for water and dust ingress protection [IP 65]. An intuitive three button operation ensures the ALTAIR 5 is extremely easy to use even when wearing gloves and the 18 pre-programmed languages further enhance its user acceptance all over the world.
The versatile ALTAIR 5 can be configured for individual requirements to suit a myriad of applications in and beyond the following industries: oil and gas, chemicals, steel and iron, utilities, fire service, waste water, civil engineering and contractors.

The MSA Advantage family of full face and half masks is now expanded by a new and innovative product that stands out due to exceptional comfort and sophisticated design: The Advantage 400 half mask.
The Advantage 400 sets standards never seen before in the area of ease of use. The user can quickly adjust the mask according to his individual requirements. Advantage 400 only consists of three major components, that can be easily cleaned: head harness, nose cup and 4-point yoke.
The patent-pending single loop head harness is unique to the market. It grants the user an intuitional operation and offers high comfort and flexibility. The drop-down option allows the user to remove the mask from the face without removing his other safety equipment [like helmet, ear muffs or spectacles]. The respirator can be worn along the chest until the next use. Lock-down permits to set the harness to the proper fit. It can be then reused without any further adjustments. The 4-point yoke consists of hard plastic and guides the harness straps to a perfect fit. The yoke’s lever locks the mask according to the adjustment.
The Advantage 400 is either available with single thread EN 148-1 connection [Advantage 410] or with twin bayonet MSA connection [Advantage 420]. MSA’s (Germany) well-proven ULTIMA XE gas monitors with display are available with HART field communications protocol [Highway Addressable Remote Transducer]. HART provides two-way digital communication between intelligent field instruments and host systems. Affinity FLS is the new generation of foldable disposable respirators from MSA. Its high-performance thin and light filtering media provides a comfortable fit even when used for longer periods.
Affinity FLS folded respirators offer effective protection against penetrating solid and liquid aerosol particles present in various work environments. Meeting the requirements of EN 149:2001, the different types of masks conform respectively to protection levels FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3. A colour coding system ensures easy identification and helps the user to select the right kind of mask for any given application.
The smooth inner lining of Affinity FLS provides a secure and comfortable seal. The low-profile design with vertical fold makes it ideal for use under welding hoods or in any tight spot where a respirator must be worn. A pre-shaped nose clip allows for easy contour adjustments to achieve a snug fit that prevents exhaled breath from escaping and fogging safety glasses.
