Water/Wastewater 33 Fluorimeter Product Range Expanded
Following on from the successful launch of the Lux range of miniature high performance fluorimeters, Chelsea Technologies (UK) announces the launch of a range of accessories to complement these fluorimeters.
Headlining is the Roamer wireless data link which gives the user freedom in the field to make high precision measurements anywhere, anytime. The Roamer provides power to the fluorimeter and wirelessly transmits data for viewing and storage on a PDA. Data can also be stamped with GPS position data. Other new accessories include Shade Caps, Flow Through Chambers, Calibration Cells, Mechanical Wipers and a USB Interface Dongle for direct connection to a PC.
Over 120 fluorimeters are now in the field with users reporting excellent datasets. Applications include in-situ chlorophyll-a & algae class studies, environmental monitoring, dye tracing, particulate studies, cell culture monitoring and process control.
With the new range of accessories, the Lux fluorimeters can be deployed in any application, from flow-through systems, buoy systems, profiling systems, towed vehicles, gliders, AUVs, and deployed independently in the field or from survey boats, etc.
The Lux range of fluorimeters cover measurements of Chlorophyll-a, Turbidity, Hydrocarbon, Gelbstoffe (CDOM), Phycoerythrin Cyanobacteria, Phycocyanin Cyanobacteria and many dyes including Rhodamine and Fluorescein.

The Leakwise ID-225 Oil-on-Water Detection System from GE Analytical (USA) enables operators to measure the thickness and monitor the buildup of hydrocarbons on water. Many petroleum and power companies use it for early detection, warning, and control of oil leaks and spills for application. However, it can also provide invaluable information in the event of a large oil spill, helping operators prioritise cleanup or containment targets based on the oil thickness of each area. For early detection, the Leakwise ID-225 is commonly used for: Remediation Control, the ID-225 monitors oil thickness changes over time in the ground, monitors the effectiveness of remediation techniques, and implements automatic on/off control; Skim Tanks, when a skim tank is used to collect entrained oil in wastewater, the ID-225 may be inserted into a tank through an inspection hatch, enabling the user to automatically start and stop the skimming operation; Monitoring Oil/Water Separators, an ID-225 can monitor oil layer buildup in an oil/water separator without human intervention and Waste-water Sewer Monitoring, an ID-225 installed in a sewer near the process area will detect and control hydrocarbon leaks at the source, reducing treatment plant load and preventing spills.
The low-maintenance Leakwise systems, which consist of a sensor an controller, use a patented high-frequency Electromagnetic Absorption Technique. They operate 24/7 without false alarms.
