UK Focus Water/Wastewater Real-Time On-Line Cod Monitor Saves Money, Energy and Waste
A true on-line monitor that enables accurate, sensitive, real-time analysis of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) is now available from Camlab (UK). The innovative PeCOD®

analyser, which is capable of generating a reading every 15 minutes, provides unrivalled analysis data of waste or discharge streams. On-line, real-
time monitoring of processes enables them to be adjusted in real-time to reduce energy use, make downstream treatment more cost effective and prevent waste of expensive ingredients.

not require the use of toxic reagents like mercury and silver salts. The increased sensitivity of the method enables the measurement of clean water samples with low ppm levels of COD. The sensor consists of a UV-activated titanium dioxide film coupled to an external electrochemical circuit. The high oxidising power of the sensor gives the analyser a significant advantage compared with the traditional dichromate method. The PeCOD™ COD analyser exhaustively oxidises organics, and counts the electrons that are liberated to provide a direct measure of equivalent COD.

Isodaq Technology, the product sales division of Hydro-Logic Ltd, has been appointed as a UK distributor of In-Situ’s range of Water Quality sensors and Water Level loggers. The water quality range includes the RDO Pro Optical Dissolved Oxygen sensor which requires minimal maintenance because there is no membrane to replace. The RDO Pro is one of the sensors available as standard within the Troll 9500 multi-parameter probe. Other parameters include electrical conductivity/salinity, temperature, pH and depth level, with extended parameters also available such as turbidity, ammonia, nitrate and chloride. The Aqua Troll 100/200 models measure only conductivity/salinity, temperature and depth level. All sensors are easily linked to Isodaq’s new Frog RX GSM/GPRS logger either via 4-20mA input or via SDI-12 for multi-parameter probes. Isodaq systems are low-cost and very easy-to-use enabling key decision makers to acquire water quality information from remote sites at a fixed frequency e.g daily or hourly. For pollution warning,
intake protection or discharge consent compliance applications, Isodaq offer a range of telemetry server, alarm handling or web-site service solutions for delivering warning messages to standby staff. To complete the range of water quality monitoring solutions for remote sites, Isodaq outstations seamlessly connect to the Aquamatic range of automatic samplers enabling a pre-defined sampling programme to be triggered when a change in quality has been detected.

Van Walt Launch Scrappage Scheme On Old, Damaged Or Obsolete Meters Against a Brand New One
In these tough times bagging a bargain applies to equipment procurement equally as importantly as all other business services and overheads. That’s why Van Walt, the specialist supplier of environmental soil and groundwater monitoring equipment, is delighted to offer an exclusive scrappage discount against old or broken water quality meters for a brand new YSI Pro Plus or YSI Pro ODO.
For a limited period trade in an old meter – whatever the condition or type - against a brand new leading water quality meter used by consultants, government agencies and environmental researchers due to their reliability, robustness and proven track record in the field.

Advanced Electrode Diagnostic Capabilities
QuadraChem Laboratories Ltd. is pleased to announce that the new Thermo Orion Star LogR Meter is now available. The exclusive LogR technology uses the resistance across the bulb to provide a new method for electrode analysis and determine sample temperature. The resistance information can be used to detect errors in the electrode, saving analysis time and offering quick troubleshooting of electrode issues. Additionally, these meters allow for temperature-compensated pH readings without the use of a separate temperature input. The Orion Star LogR meter is available in two versions – one with pH input and one with pH and ion-selective electrode inputs. Both meters provide mV readout options, temperature and resistance values when the LogR technology is in use.
