New Device Mitigates Spectral Performance Issues Related to Temperature Variation
To maintain thermal stability of spectrometers operating in variable environments, Ocean Optics (Netherlands) has released the USB-TC small-footprint heating device. Compatible with the company’s USB2000+ and USB4000 miniature spectrometers, the unit attaches directly to the spectrometer and maintains wavelength thermal stability to within +/-0.025 pixels/o
C. This temperature control ensures accuracy in industrial
and other settings where temperature variations can affect spectral performance. The USB-TC is available with pre-selected setpoint temperatures between 25-55o
comes with a 12 VDC, 3A power supply. With constant ambient temperature, the USB-TC stabilizes to within 0.1o
up. The system will operate in temperatures ranging from 5-40o temperature.

The USB2000+ and USB4000 are among the most popular miniature spectrometers in the world. Their small-footprint, high-speed CCD-array design is ideal for a wide range of applications.
Modular optical bench accessories (entrance apertures, order sorting filters and more) make it possible to configure the USB2000+ and USB4000 for hundreds of different applications.
The USB-TC is available with new spectrometer purchases or as a retrofit option for existing owners of USB2000+ and USB4000 spectrometers. Reader Reply Card No. 75
SCION SQ™ GC-MS single quadrupole and SCION TQ™ GC-MS triple quadrupole systems from Bruker (USA) provide analysts with a GC- MS platform especially designed for the Gas Chromatographer.
The SCION GC-MS Series sets a new industry standard for GC-MS. The SCION series is designed to be simple to use, incredibly sensitive, and deliver robust and reliable performance. All this comes complete in a space saving package that makes upgrading to a new level of performance a simple and cost effective process.
Continuous Temperature Monitoring of Composting Sites
To efficiently compost waste, continuous temperature readings are required from the compost heap or windrow. Manual data collection and risk of contamination are eliminated using a SureCross Node equipped with a dedicated thermocouple probe from Banner Engineering (Belgium) to automatically monitor the compost temperature.
Temperature sensor readings are wirelessly transmitted back to the Gateway or host system for real-time data collection, analysis, and logging. Timely and accurate temperature data helps operators determine the optimum time between compost rotations.
Accurate temperature monitoring is also required to ensure compost achieves the minimum temperature required to kill dangerous bacteria.

The SCION SQ and TQ detectors come with an MRM Method Builder – designed by Chromatographers. You do not need to know the MRM transition of an analyte, the software auto-fills this for you. Simply drag in the name of your compound from the factory installed compound library, that contains over 2500 MRM transitions, and the software sets up the method and manages the duty cycle.
SCION SQ and SCION TQ set new standards of performance in Food Analysis and Testing and Environmental Analysis.
Both the SCION SQ and SCION TQ are available with the new, compact 436 Gas Chromatograph. For those requiring more GC flexibility, the 455 Laboratory GC is also available. The 436 and 455 are designed to provide complete sample integrity with fast oven performance, flexible inlet / detector options, and a wide variety of automations / sample handling capabilities.

Primary Standard Ozone Generator
The SONIMIX 4001 from LNI Schmidlin (Switzerland) is a primary standard portable Ozone generator. The generated ozone is measured and regulated by an ozone analyser using the US EPA method. The device includes an “on board” self- regenerable Zero Air Generator. The generation capabilities are from 50 ppb up to 1 ppm. This device is ideally used to check and calibrate the ozone monitors. The SONIMIX 4001 can be easily driven through its touch screen interface. All the important functioning parameters are monitored and displayed. Another possible option is the potential to generate Ozone with dry or humid Air.
