Enviro Technology Strengthens its Presence in Scotland with Key Appointment

Enviro Technology a supplier and exporter of air quality monitoring systems for ambient air quality and industrial emissions applications, has just strengthened its position in Scotland with the appointment of Alan Gardiner as Regional Engineer.

Based in Cambuslang near Glasgow, Alan will be responsible for business development across the whole of the Central Belt of Scotland, driving sales of Enviro Technology’s top-of-the-range air pollution monitoring systems as well as providing technical sales advice and service maintenance.

Alan has over 20 years’ experience in the air quality monitoring industry, having worked in various senior roles including Service Engineer for Scotland and Northern Ireland working with a wide range of instrumentation such as: stack gas analysers, infra red, chromatography and particulate monitors, including ambient air monitoring.

He also worked for over ten years at Gas Measurement Instruments where he held the position of Service Manager, responsible for the management of all field service staff and travelled extensively throughout the UK and Ireland commissioning gas monitoring systems and advising on installation, supervision, testing, on site calibration and providing customer support services.

Alan’s appointment as Regional Engineer comes at a key time for Enviro Technology

as the company extends its UK-wide reach into Scotland and follows close on the heels of the news that Enviro Technology recently reported the biggest sales in its 28 year history with orders totalling over £2.7m in quarter 2 of this year – a 50% year on year increase on 2010 (year-to-date).

The business has triumphed in recent years despite challenging economic conditions and the recent sweeping public sector cutbacks which has seen local authority contracts reduce and the company shift its focus to expanding industrial sector contracts and export activities.

Duncan Mounsor, Sales and Marketing Director of Enviro Technology, said: “2011 has been a truly exceptional year for the business with sales and revenue on the up. We owe our tremendous success to the strength and calibre of the talented and committed people we employ and Alan is no exception.

“We are delighted to give a big welcome to Alan to the team and believe he will make a fantastic contribution to our business and the quality of the service offering we provide our customers in Scotland. His experience in the field and knowledge and understanding of the Scottish market will stand us in good stead as we push on with our expansion plans.”

Alan Gardiner added: “I am very much looking forward to developing new business opportunities to fuel Enviro Technology’s expansion into the Scottish air quality monitoring market. In addition to ambient air quality monitoring, I will also be responsible for driving sales of Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) for industrial companies throughout Scotland. This is a market with tremendous growth potential for the business and will further cement Enviro Technology’s reputation as the leading UK-wide provider of air quality monitoring solutions, systems and services.”

Quantitech has launched a new hand-held calibrator; the TCR Tecora Flowcal, which has been developed to enable the fast, accurate calibration of high volume air samplers.

Traceable to UKAS standards, the Flowcal provides a convenient and highly accurate method with which to check the performance of air samplers such as the ECHO ambient air particulate sampler. The Flowcal is able to operate either of two flow cells: a Hi Flow cell, with a range of 150 – 600 l/min and a Mid Flow cell, with a range of 10 – 60 l/min.

The Flowcal is already being used in the UK by users of the ECHO high volume air sampler for ambient monitoring. Quantitech's Dominic Duggan says: "The Flowcal is an ideal accessory for such samplers because of its accuracy and simplicity; the unit's screen commands guide users through the process, storing data for subsequent transfer to PC. As a result it is possible to perform a traceable calibration on any air sampler, in the field and in just a few minutes."

Quantitech has created a short video showing the entire calibration procedure on their website.

Accurate and Dependable Bio-gas Analysers

Level and Flow specialist Allison Engineering has been appointed exclusive UK representative for AWITE, a German market leader in dedicated Bio-Gas process analysers. The agreement means Allison Engineering takes responsibility for sales, service and maintenance of the Awite range in the UK, ensuring total, dedicated support on a local basis for all systems supplied.

With increasing volumes of UK waste now being processed to create biogas from AD (Anaerobic Digestion), Bio-gas plant operators need to ensure that working capacities are maintained and optimised. From small agricultural sites to larger industrial AD plants, accurate and dependable online gas composition analysis is an essential part of this process and the Awite range provides a wide choice of options.

The range comprises the Awi-Eco, a low cost, compact discontinuous analyser which provides 50 CH4 and CO2 measurements per day, with 4-20mA output and USB connection. For more sophisticated monitoring and analysis

requirements the Awi-Flex provides continuous measurement for CH4, CO2, H2S, O2 and H2. This system provides up to 5 measuring points; Ethernet, Profibus, Modbus and USB connection. Most importantly, it can also be used to take flow,

temperature and pressure inputs and undertake automated desulphurisation control.

All Awite analysers utilise a rugged, touch screen industrial interface which allows easy access to recorded data, sensor parameters and system diagnostics. This ensures that all information is instantly available, remotely.

Commenting on their appointment, Jeff Harwood, Director at Allison Engineering said, “Awite process analysers are an important addition to our range of level and flow instrumentation products and we look forward to helping Bio-Gas plant operators achieve optimum monitoring and analysis of their process flows”. He added, “Awite have over 800 analysers

operating at sites throughout Europe providing measurements of CH4, CO2, H2S, O2 and H2. We believe that what sets their product apart from other analysis equipment is their compact, low-maintenance design and flexible configurations, these systems can carry out control functions through fuzzy logic and PLC interface”.
