14 Gas Detection

New Gas Management Software Package

MOS Sensors, Your Reliable, Cheaper Sensor Solution

Many device manufacturers are switching from expensive gas sensors to the low-cost Metal Oxide Semiconductor sensors (MOS). e2v (UK) offers a wide variety of MOS sensors: CO, Dual VOC, NH3, NO2 and O3. The latest sensor used to detect ozone is the MiCs-2610 device it is a unique sensor ideal for low cost ozone measurement. This unique sensor design utilises a highly sensitive semiconductor manufactured on an automotive production line for outstanding quality and performance.

e2v’s MOS sensors are easily capable to detect and measure combustible and pollution gasses in parts per billion (PPB) and are suitable for many environmental, automotive and industrial applications worldwide.

It is critical that the correct application is understood when using these types of sensors, to ensure the best performance is obtained. To ensure the sensor is optimised for best performance contact one of the e2v support engineers for application advice. To learn more about e2v’s MOS sensors visit www.e2v.com/gassensors

Portable Multi-Gas Detector with Catalytic Sensor

The model PGD2 portable multi-gas detector from Enmet Corporation (USA) incorporates a catalytic type sensor for 0-100% LEL methane, and is preprogrammed for more than 12 other combustible gases and vapors.

In addition, the PGD2 can also be supplied with an oxygen sensor and up to two electrochemical sensors for various toxic gases, such as, CO, H2S, NO2, SO2, etc.

The instrument has audio/visual alarms and complete data logging capability. The PGD2 can monitor gases by diffusion, or sample draw when utilising the available option of an internal pump.

Other features include a rugged enclosure with protective rubber boot for high impact resistance, and IP66 ingress protection rating.

The PGD2 is ATEX certified and CE approved. Reader Reply Card No. 41

Formaldehyde Monitor

Environmental Sensor’s (USA) Z-300XP formaldehyde monitor is a portable data logging instrument suitable for a wide range of industries and workplace conditions including health care, laboratory, indoor air quality or the manufacture of wood, furniture, or other construction materials.

The Z-300XP monitor uses electrochemical sensing technology and is designed to give accurate concentration levels of formaldehyde without interference from other chemicals by applying a special filter.

New Portable Gas Detector with One-Button Simplicity

BW Technology Honeywell (UK) announces the launch of GasAlertMicroClip XT, the latest member of the GasAlert family of portable gas detectors from BW Technologies by Honeywell.

The GasAlertMicroClip XT includes IntelliFlash™, which provides a visual indication of current operation to both the user and supervisor, and “force bump test” and “force calibration” functionality, to help to ensure that GasAlertMicroClip

XT is always fully maintained and ready to detect gas.

There is a multi-gas detection of H2S, CO, Oxygen and combustibles; this provides you with a robust monitoring solution designed to meet the challenges of a wide range of industrial applications including confined space entry.

GasAlertMicroClip XT also features a simplified and tamper-proof single button operation and an intuitive interface to reduce training time.

It’s slim and compact design also means that GasAlertMicroClip XT is as easy and comfortable to wear as it is to use.

The internal pump makes the sampling of hard-to-reach areas possible by attaching a flexible tube to the meter.

The operation of the Z-300XP formaldehyde meter is very simple. Turn on the switch and the instrument warms up automatically and starts showing

the concentration of formaldehyde in ppm at every 10 seconds at 0.01ppm resolution.

Just push a button and it displays TWA (updated hourly), STEL (updated every 15 minutes), or PEAK value. The concentration can be shown in ppm or mg/m3

.

The instrument can store up to 14,400 data points. The data can be easily transferred to a PC by using the ESC terminal software for record keeping or data analysis. The user can customise the values of the alarm level, measure time length and log the time interval to meet the user’s need.

New Semi-Conductor Gas Sensors

Envin Scientific (UK), announces the release of a range of electronic modules incorporating the leading FIS semi-conductor gas sensors.

These electronic modules provide temperature compensated control and alarm outputs for a full range of gasses covering industrial, environmental, refrigerant and air quality applications.

One of the difficulties in using semi-conductor sensors is their non-linear response and spread of characteristics, the modules remove these obstacles to give reliable and cost effective detection using industry standard outputs.

System designers now have the freedom to use a common footprint module which can be replaced at service without the need to perform re-calibration.

The modules come in 4-20mA, 1-10V linear analogue output versions with digital level alarm outputs and a relay version for switching applications. There is also a small form factor module providing a digital level alarm output for detection systems.

The modules are pre-calibrated to customer requirements and use the full range of FIS semi-conductor sensors. Reader Reply Card No. 45
