Sensitron SMART 3G Series for VOCs detection
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) represent a wide range of chemicals that readily evaporate into the air at room temperature. These compounds, found in many industrial processes, can have a signifi cant impact on both human health and the environment. Detection and monitoring of VOCs in industries are therefore critical to ensure worker safety and minimize environmental pollution. The Sensitron SMART 3G C2 gas detector, part of the SMART 3G series, is certifi ed ATEX II 2G Ex db IIC T5 Gb (II 2GD with optional adapter) and ATEX II 2G Ex db [ib] IIC T6 Gb for detectors with intrinsically safe protection,
IECEx, Hardware SIL2 and Software SIL3 certifi ed, ensuring accurate detection of VOC gases in even the harshest industrial applications. Power supply 12-24 Vdc on the board, standard mounts a 4-20mA analog output, via optional boards an RS485 output and 3 relays can be added. A PID technology sensor can be used for the correct detection of VOCs. These are extremely sensitive instruments and can detect VOCs at very low concentrations. Its lifetime depends on various factors, including the quality of the sensor itself, operating conditions and frequency of use. However, key elements, such as the UV lamp, have life cycles ranging from 6 to 12 months, necessitating maintenance for replacement. Also, depending on the manufacturer’s instructions, periodic calibration of the detector will also be necessary to ensure accurate detection. VOCs are emitted during many production processes, including solvent use, chemical production, painting and surface treatment. Exposure to high levels of VOCs can cause a range of health problems:
- Eye, nose and throat irritation - Central nervous system disorders - Chronic respiratory diseases
In addition, VOCs contribute to the formation of tropospheric ozone, an air pollutant that can have harmful effects on both the environment and human health. Choose Sensitron gas detection systems ensures accurate detection and allows you to ensure the safety of people and environments.

Gas chromatograph for natural gas, biogas, and hydrogen
Emerson have announced the release of the Rosemount™ 470XA Gas Chromatograph, designed to simplify natural gas analysis in custody transfer and other process applications.
As natural gas sources have evolved to include sustainable and renewable sources, such as landfi ll gas and biogas, the need to provide greater gas chromatograph fl exibility has accelerated. Existing designs provide the needed capabilities, but a smaller form factor and a more cost-effective solution is needed.
The Rosemount 470XA addresses these and other needs with an analyser design based on the versatile and industry-proven Rosemount™ 770XA Gas Chromatograph, known for its robustness and wide variety of applications. This opens a wider range of use cases for a product in this segment, such as for carbon capture utilisation and storage, renewable natural gas, and custom applications.
The 470XA provides the same reliable and accurate C6+ BTU/CV measurement that users have come to expect from decades of traditional Rosemont gas chromatograph technology, but now with the added benefi t of being a more economical solution for a wider variety of emerging applications.
A full-colour LCD local operator interface and easy-to-use software reduces the need for specialised training by guiding operators through common operational and maintenance functions. Preinstalled Rosemount MON2020 software simplifi es analyser confi guration, maintenance, and data collection.
The 470XA doesn’t require a shelter for operation in most environments, lowering total cost of ownership. A fully serviceable module combines all critical functional parts in one assembly, allowing for quick and easy fi eld replacement or repair.
