Endress+Hauser and Vector CAG secure contract at large Texas refi nery

Endress+Hauser recently secured the Main Instrument Vendor (MIV) contract at a large Texas refi nery. Endress+Hauser and its representative, Vector CAG, will support the refi nery’s project.

Endress+Hauser defi nes MIV services as a contract placed with a single instrumentation specialist partner to provide a total solution for a project including valves. From feed to operation, customers can save time, reduce cost and mitigate risk with one partner to ensure consistency and avoid ambiguities.

“Our customers are looking for a single point-of-contact to support all fi eld devices required, consistent documentation, and consolidated freight with clean tagging,” said Jason Knuteson, VP Marketing, Endress+Hauser. “They want to leverage purchasing for multiple suppliers and at the same time have the ability to reprioritize as the project shifts. As a focal point of the project, we are able to build relationships with the other vendors to execute the scope effectively.”

As the industry implements IMO 2020 regulations, expansions such as these help refi ners add capacity to meet the needs of the industry. IMO 2020’s proposed regulations aim to reduce sulfur content in fuel of marine vessels and limit future greenhouse gas emissions. Endress+Hauser and Vector CAG will closely support the project timeline to help the refi nery maximize its potential.

“Through our partnership with our clients and manufacturing suppliers, the MIV concept is successful given the fl exibility and adaptability to what our customers need to be successful on this project,” said Jared Boudreaux, President, Vector CAG. “After listening to what they needed, we adapted our process to match those needs. Working with the engineering fi rms and our client together to have a successful outcome is our goal.”

Project services will include project management, embedded engineering, Smart Plant Integration (SPI), quotation, reporting, procurement, expediting and prioritisation, documentation, warehouse support with receiving, inspection, tagging and shipping and onsite construction coordination.

project in Gothenburg

St1 has awarded ÅF Pöyry with engineering assignment for a new renewable fuel production unit investment project. The new plant will be built in Gothenburg, Sweden, and is the largest single investment in St1’s history. The investment is estimated to approximately 1.5 billion SEK. ÅF Pöyry’s services includes all engineering disciplines, procurement and scheduling services. The project consists of new units, revamp of existing units and new storage facilities.

The energy company St1’s vision is to be the leading producer and seller of CO2-aware energy. To achieve this vision, the company strives to develop and commercialise functional and environmentally sustainable solutions to replace fossil energy with renewable energy. The St1 Refi nery in Gothenburg, Sweden, which is one of most energy effi cient in the world, plays a key role in realising this vision and fulfi lling long-term advanced renewable fuels strategy.

St1 has decided to construct a hydrogen manufacturing unit with the goal of starting the production of renewable diesel at the refi nery. The new plant will have a capacity to produce 200,000 tons per year of renewable fuel in the form of HVO (Hydrogenated Vegetable Oils), a renewable transport fuel that can be blended into diesel or replace diesel. The goal for production start is in the beginning of 2022.
