Safety OGI camera for hazardous locations Tiger assists chemical spill clean-up
The chemical industry has seen four major chemical incidents take place over recent times. On March 17th 2019 two ITC tanks caught fire in Deer Park, Texas, with five more catching fire just 12 hours later. A few days later, an explosion at the Xiangshui chemical plant resulted in the death of 78 people while severely injuring 94. On April 2, a leak caused a fire at the KMCO plant in Crosby, Texas, severely injuring two and killing one. In addition, a waste materials plant caught fire in Campbellfield, a suburb of Melbourne.
As a result of the explosion at the ITC tank farm, an Ion Science Tiger Select hand held gas detector is currently being used in Deer Park to assist with the clean-up process. The instruments are specifically seeking traces of benzene, which is highly toxic. An Ion Science Tiger has also been purchased by members of the local community who are concerned with their own health, and allowing them to monitor the air quality.
The FLIR GFx320 Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) camera offers unmatched technology for visualising fugitive hydrocarbon leaks at natural gas well sites, off-shore platforms, liquid natural gas terminals, and more.
To allow surveyors to work more confidently and safely, the GFx320 is certified to visualise small hydrocarbon leaks with the sensitivity required to meet the US EPA’s OOOOa methane rule.
With its superior resolution, thermal sensitivity, and the option of a High Sensitivity Mode, the FLIR GFx320 allows surveyors to visualise leaks which can pinpoint the exact source of the emissions and begin repairs immediately. The GFx320 can also accurately measure temperatures including temperature differentials and better visual contrast for improved gas plume detection.
In addition, FLIR designed the GFx320 with ergonomic features such as the articulating LCD screen to help surveyors avoid fatigue even during all-day surveys.

50611pr@reply-direct.com Intrepid Explorer ensures worker
safety in a host of applications Recom Industriale S.r.l. manufactures the Explorer Line for the oxygen, explosive, toxic gases analysis and monitoring in continuous and for the related alarms management. Most of the sensors/transmitters are ATEX and MED certified, while the control and acquisition boards are RINA and MED approved. ISO 17025 testing laboratory makes sensor calibrations .
Recom Industriale’s Values
The Company has been working for 20 years in the safety field, with the goal to guarantee the workers’ safety adequate conditions; Recom efforts in order to search technologies and solutions for the monitoring and leak control of combustible, toxic gases and oxygen.
Research & Development and Quality as primary goals
Safety detector design and production require an elevate quality standard finalized to give health and safety to the workers’ operating in the industrial, production, marine field. In these last sectors the even-potential gas existence acquires a great risk. The production process by RECOM INDUSTRIALE S.R.L., guaranteed by the ISO 9001 2008 standards, is strictly linked to the planning and to the test laboratory (RINA Certificate) and to MED standard, representing the guarantee of innovation, analysis and control of each component inside a continuous effort, that is destined to ensure the 100% of production.
Fixed Gas detectors, EXPLORER RTC-RTE-RTI series
The sensor transmitters for toxic gas, oxygen and combustible gases are suitable to work in classified Areas at explosion risk, for example refineries, combustible deposits, chemical plants and in safe areas such as waste water plants, laboratories, car
parks. The high reliance and endurance to the atmospheric agents has made the RECOM INDUSTRIALE’s gas detection systems adequate to marine applications according to RINA and MED certifications). These can be perfectly integrated in the automation systems aboard in passengers and military ships.
Control Units: GasScreen series
Stability, performances, reliability, plug & play technology, color display with touch screen and the modularity are the characteristics defining the RECOM INDUSTRIALE Control Units.
The most performing control units in the market are GasScreen 40 and GasScreen 160; instruments characteristics go through the simplicity of affordable units inside the Explorer 4, 4 modular channel control unit with marine approvals.
Customized Systems and MED standard manufacturing
A lot of experiences in the field and the high engineering capacity and planning commit to the need of building complex measurement systems and gas analysis destined to the specific applications in the environmental conditions and withdrawal of difficult samples.

These recent incidents have seen the intervention of local government agencies and compliance with environmental and health and safety legislation, resulting in a series of violations for clean air, clean water, and environmental quality that include failure to comply with emissions rate standards, conduct stack tests, and the discharge of hazardous waste.
Although it is not yet confirmed what has caused these incidents to occur, it is speculated to have been caused by leaking materials.
In these circumstances a fixed monitoring device, such as the Titan fixed benzene specific detector or Falco fixed volatile organic compound (VOC) detector from Ion Science, is capable of continuously detecting (VOCs), including benzene, ultimately preventing such catastrophic events.
The Tiger Select is a revolutionary hand held gas detector with two mode operation for the rapid and accurate detection of benzene and TACs. Utilising the high output Ion Science 10.0eV monitoring system, a reading for TACs is seen immediately on start-up. Should TACs be detected, a benzene pre-filter tube can be easily attached to ensure rapid detection and selective measurement of benzene.
Ion Science offers an array of advanced instruments that will detect and monitor a range of VOCs, including the handheld Tiger series, the Cub personal VOC detector and the Falco fixed PID detector which utilises typhoon technology, allowing effective operation within humid and harsh environments.
