Measurement and Testing Connected monitoring of all relevant control factors with IO-Link
To improve efficiency in Condition Monitoring and connectivity, the Bühler product range has been offering sensors equipped with IO-Link controllers which comply with the IEC 61131-9 standard for some time now. This communication method is available now for the most of all Bühler sensors. Thus all control factors relevant in hydraulics and lubrication technology can now be monitored on a network, such as liquid level, temperature and pressure, as well as filter and moisture monitoring. Integrating liquid level and temperature monitoring combined with other basic functions such as ventilation and return filtration or the fill and sampling connections in compact installations is also particularly beneficial.
Equipment with IO-Links provide easier, uniform wiring, bi-directional communication. This enables automatic parametrisation when replacing devices, facilitates anything from maintenance to remote diagnostics and enables internal standardisation processes – just to name a few benefits.
During its 50th year, this program expansion demonstrates how Bühler Technologies is once again showing that working closely with leading OEMs in this industrial sector and a motivated, innovative development team is the best basis for the successful development of a company.

ABB’s new NiTemp non-invasive temperature sensor offers a simpler and safer way of measuring process temperature without the need to shut down a pipeline, drill a hole, or install a thermowell. With its innovative double sensor architecture and specially developed calculation algorithm, NiTemp greatly enhances safety and reduces installation costs without sacrificing the quality of the measurement.
The device is designed for surface measurement and eliminates the need for a thermowell, avoiding pro-cess intrusion altogether and greatly increasing the safety of people, plants, and the environment. As such, it can be used in a range of applications, including processes with hazardous media, special hygiene requirements and/or stringent cleaning requirements and high-pressure processes with high bending loads or use with abrasive media.
The NiTemp approach is inherently safe, compliant with safety standards, and simplifies environmental aspects. With the sensor able to be installed and maintained without shutting down a process, plant availability is improved and system costs are lowered, helping to reduce CAPEX costs by at least 30%.
The new temperature sensor uses innovative technology with proven components, such as standard in-sets widely utilized in industry. It has been developed through direct testing and feedback from key cus-tomers in the oil and gas, chemical, and food and beverage industries. Moreover, the handling of NiTemp is easy and straightforward, from ordering to maintenance, and the common ABB look and feel with text display makes commissioning and handling easy.
The device is suitable for different media and pipe diameters and can be used in all areas of the process industry and power generation. NiTemp has global approvals for explosion protection up to zone 0. Its use with liquid media with low viscosity, high thermal conductivity and/or turbulent flow in metal pipes is particularly advantageous.

Having an ISO 17025 sticker on your analyzer is a nice thing to have, but not worth a lot. To be sure that the instrument is tested in accordance to the standard method, it is vital to understand the differences between accreditations.
Starting with the basics: each company offering performance evaluation should comply to all ISO 17025 requirements, which are determined and audited by an independent accreditation body, such as BELAC (Belgium), RvA (Netherlands), Cofrac (France), Ukas (GB), DKD (Germany)...
Next up is the manner in which the measurement is conducted. ISO 17025 temperature calibration? Easy.
ISO 17025 verification according to ASTM D93?
Not that easy. While the first one only takes the temperature into account, doing it the proper way means combining calibrations AND checks of all critical parameters in the working method (such as ASTM D93). So instead of just calibrating the temperature, you need to verify and adjust the display, barometric pressure, stirrer speed, heating rates,…
And here comes the catch: a company can only perform the testing in accordance to ISO 17025 if ALL required parameters are mentioned in its scope of accreditation.
European Lab Services is the only accredited company to perform ISO 17025 verification of Petroleum Analyzers on-site. With the extension of their flexible scope, ELS has already written over 150 custom testing procedures and is capable of testing virtually all lab equipment for performance evaluation.
So, about that sticker… More information online:
