Agilent Technologies Inc. (USA) and A2 Technologies announce they have signed a definitive agreement for Agilent to acquire specific assets of A2 Technologies. The acquisition includes substantially all of A2 Technologies’ intellectual property, technology, employees and its spectroscopy product portfolio.

Privately held A2 Technologies focuses on Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) technology for lab and

field use. The company designs, develops and manufactures FT-IR spectrometers for routine analysis and out-of-lab applications in the petrochemical, environmental, aerospace, art conservation, academia and geosciences markets. PANalytical (Netherlands) announces the opening of a new office with demonstration laboratory and meeting space near Houston, TX. Located just 10 minutes from George Bush Intercontinental Airport, the Kingwood, TX facility is focused on serving the needs of the many petrochemical companies situated in the Gulf Coast region. The office will showcase PANalytical’s wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence (WDXRF) spectrometers, featuring the new Axios system with cost-effective 1 KW operating power, no external cooling required, and the industry’s most advanced XRF X-ray tube, the SST with CHI-BLUE coating and best X-ray tube warranty on the market – five years non-prorated. Also featured will be energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) spectrometers, along with other laboratory instruments, calibration standards, software and consumables.

PANalytical's XRF spectrometers are the

industry standard for R&D and process control tasks for quantitative analysis of any petrochemical: from heavy elements in crude oil to additives in lubricants, biofuels, and finished products like gasoline, coke and waxes. A very important application of XRF is the determination of sulphur in fuels and oils according to norms and regulations. In the oil and oil processing industry, XRF is used for elemental and trace element analysis of catalysts, metals and hazardous ingredients in crude oil, as well as analysis of engine performance and wear by determining metallic traces in lubricants.
