News 5 SURE YOU STAY SAFE IS TO HAVE A HOME FIRE SAFETY VISIT

New helpline for tenants

A HELPLINE has been set up for any GHA tenants with concerns after the tragic fire in a London tower block in June. We have been working hard

to reassure people of our robust safety approach in all our multi- storey blocks. But if you still have concerns, call us on 0800 561 5656.

Please be assured:

•The materials and systems used in our multi-storey investment programme meet, and in many cases exceed, Scottish building standards and regulations for this type of property. The systems used are designed to stop fire spreading and are made with non-combustible materials.

He added: “If you hear a smoke alarm going off, don’t just ignore it. Chap the door, look through the letterbox if you can’t see smoke. “If you think there’s a fire in your neighbour’s home, phone 999 and get to a place of safety. “If you have an older neighbour, ask if

they need help. Offer to test their smoke alarm – they might not be able to reach it. “That helps keep everyone safe.” A home fire safety visit takes no more than half an hour It can be set up for that same day – or within a couple of days.
