JuLees Concessions LLC by Lee Stevens
Lee, his wife and their children have been in the food business for the past ten years.
Lee and Judy and now their son, Sebastian, own and operate JuLees Concessions, working fairs in Florida during the winter and Illinois during the summer months where they serve ‘made from scratch’ gourmet funnel cakes and giant elephant ears. Various other deep-fried treats and fresh squeezed lemonade round out the menu. Food concessions are just the latest travelling industry Lee has been involved with. He
has been on the road since he was fifteen years old when he joined on with a tent cir- cus that had come to his hometown. Lee went on to become a celebrated circus perform- er and animal trainer, culminating in ten years with Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bai- ley Circus. Lee and Judy then formed a production company, Goin’ Ape Productions which created, built and booked shows for the fairs, most notably, Baboon Lagoon, All the Kings Horses, Wild West Follies and Birds of Pineapple Paradise. These productions, featuring beautiful stages, sets and themes, quickly became the standard in that industry travelling throughout the Northeast and Midwest United States. sonton. Lee, however, stayed close to his fellow showmen taking an active role in many Showman’s organizations. He is a two-time President of the I.I.S.A. and is a permanent member of the Board of Directors and a Trustee. He is a Past President of the Greater Tampa Showmen’s Association, a two-time Past President of the Showmen’s Shrine Club and a past board member of the Sarasota Circus Club. He has been inducted into the John & Mabel Ringling Hall of Fame in Sarasota, FL, the IISA Hall of Fame and the Circus Hall of Fame. Lee and Judy have been married for 36 years and have four children and one grandchild. They are proud members of the Florida Federation of Fairs, OABA and NICA as well as the United Concessionaires of America. They look forward to many more as one of the wonderful people we call Showpeople.
