Faircracker SUMMER 2021 Greetings friends of the

Florida Federation of Fairs from the Outdoor Amusement

Business Association (OABA) Thank you for allowing the Outdoor Amusement Business Association (OABA) to participate in

your 70th annual convention. Everyone was welcoming and a great deal of positive conversation took place. I was asked to make presentations in three great workshops: Fairs and Concessions Working Together; Are You a New Fair Manager?; and The Midway Backstory. Each one was well attended, and the dialog was outstanding. In fact, The Midway Backstory had so much participation that we ran out of time! It is imperative that our fairs and carnivals understand the challenges we all face and work together toward solutions. I also attended many of the other workshop offerings, walked through the trade show, and attended the social gather-

ings as well. The FFF sure knows how to put on a great convention and trade show. While at the convention we were able to meet with our lobbying firm, Rutledge-Ecenia, giving members the opportunity

to directly explain some of the challenges they are facing with some new regulations from the Department of Agricul- ture. Members of the board from the FFF also attended the meeting to better understand some of the problems we face and offered their assistance in any way they can be helpful. It’s great to have such a strong bond of cooperation be- tween OABA and FFF. We really need to thank all of the people of Florida as being first in the nation with fairs, festivals, and events. After a

year of shutdown, our members were anxious to get back to work. Almost all of the Florida events have been record- breaking and without major incidents. Floridians set the pace for the rest of the country, and we sincerely appreciate it. As the rest of the states return to “normal,” we look forward to a very successful year. Let’s con- tinue to build on the partnerships we have devel- oped over the years and pray for a safe and pros- perous future.

Thanks again for the invitation and hope to see you all next year.
