From Left to Right: Carl Hargreaves, Gary Aldred & Robert Ide. (Back in 2015)

On the theme of Pumping stations, we also have in our collection a 1912 Crossley type N gas engine. Now, this lovely old thing ties in nicely with the story of Crossens Pumping Station. The Crossley was in the old pump house, which was then called Crossens Mill Pumping Station. This was demolished and replaced with the pump house we see today. It was saved back in the day

by late Mr Hubert Pilkington of Holmeswood, and we bought it from him 35yrs later.

When I bought the Allen S12 engine, I was also given a lot of period information regarding the pumping station which was heading for the bin!

This is the 1912 Crossley Type N gas engine from the old pump house. It now resides in our collection.
