any thanks to the Lancashire Federation of Young Farmers for allowing me to attend their event. With the vastly reduced numbers of ploughing matches being held, ploughmen were delighted to receive an invitation to “plough” from Mr. A. Thompson at Turnover Hall Farm near Preston, Lancashire. The match was

held on 18th April 2021 on a field some competitors described as “challenging”. The ground had a fair amount of hard clay which lead to a lot of poor splits. To be fair to the land owner, everyone was just glad to be out ploughing, and towards the finish most were saying it’s not bad once you get under the crust.
