column for the Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky Association, I am honored to introduce myself as the Association’s new vice president of governmental affairs. I am humbled and honored to be part of the Association’s tremendous team and pledge to serve the Association’s members and mission with passion, focus and integrity. My background includes 27 years as a journalist, including 17 years as a political reporter and columnist for


The Cincinnati/Kentucky Enquirer, where my beat also included economic development. For the past 11 years I have been a part- ner with Strategic Advisers, LLC, a public relations and govern- ment affairs firm based in Northern Kentucky that I co-founded after leaving journalism. I am a Cincinnati native and Northern Kentucky resident married for nearly 34 years, the father of a daughter and a son and recently became a first-time grandfather of twin boys.


I will continue as a partner with Strategic Advisers while working as an independent contractor for the Association. With a background in public relations, I will also provide communica- tions services and consulting to the Association.


While I ask for patience and indulgence as I get up to speed on the issues the Association is actively following and confronting, I do have some experience working with apartment management companies and owners. My firm has provided public relations and lobbying services to several multi-family developers, including some of the Association’s members. I have also spent much of my career covering government


and lobbying officials and regulators in Frankfort, Columbus, Washington, throughout Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky and in other communities and state capitals across the country. I must also acknowledge the man I am succeeding. Charles


Tassell is a consummate professional, a fountain of knowledge and an outstanding and virtuous individual who was wholly commit- ted to the Association. I’ve known Charles for more than 20 years as one the very best in the profession at understanding, dissecting and explaining an issue and then developing the strategy to either support or oppose it. I will never be able to fill his capable shoes, but with his help and blessing, I will certainly try. I am grateful for the faith and confidence the Association’s leadership - including the staff and board of directors - for allow- ing me to be a part of this important organization.
