Practical Assessment Tasks (PATs) make up the main formal assessment. Learners should complete two PATs – one per semester. The second PAT should be completed during the third term. The Design Process (Investigate, Design, Make, Evaluate, Communicate or IDMEC) forms the backbone of Technology. Formal assessment tasks may include some aspects of the design process (for example, an Investigation task and a Communication task) or cover all of the components of the design process.
