Stencils and transfers
Stencils are used for lettering and transferring pre- designed patterns.
Stencils come in many patterns, shapes and sizes.
You can make your own stencils using any sheet material like plastic, paper, card or even metal and wood.
Rulers
Rulers are instruments that are used for drawing lines and measurement. Rulers are found in different lengths and are marked in different units.
Safety rulers are usually made of steel and provide protection for your fingers when using craft knives.
Drawing instruments
Drawing instruments help us to draw different types of line, shape and angle.
We use set squares, triangles and protractors to draw angles of specific sizes.
A compass or a protractor is used to draw circles with a desired radius or diameter.
Joining paper and card Paper and card can be joined in many ways.
Common methods of joining paper include using staples, glues, paperclips, pins or sticky tape.
Cutting paper and card
Cutting paper and card is quite easy because they are soft, thin materials.
General tools used for cutting paper and card include scissors, craft knives and carpet knives.
Safety
Be careful when cutting paper or card as cutting instruments are usually very sharp. Always use a safety ruler when working with craft knives and if you are uncertain, ask an adult to assist you.
