Faircracker SPRING 2021
Greetings friends of the Florida Federation of Fairs
from the Outdoor Amusement Business Association (OABA)
I am reflecting back on the year 2020 and can’t wait for it to go away. The year 2020 seemed

like forever, yet at the same time, it feels like each week and month passed quickly. Either way, it’s time to look at 2020 in the rear-view mirror. Our most vulnerable and those on the front lines are currently receiving vaccines. It appears, that by Spring, the ma-

jority of our population will have the opportunity to obtain the vaccine. It appears we will be able to get back to “normal” by early summer. It will be a new normal with mask wearing and social distancing remaining in the mix. Our guests will be cautious and apprehensive. However, I believe, that there will be huge pent-up demand for our services. People will want to have some genuine fun with family and friends. Let’s hope for a record-breaking year! The recent South Florida Mini Fair was a huge success by many measures. We are hopeful that the fairs and events
that have postponed to later dates will be met with the same positive response from the public. It has been a tough go, but our industry is resilient and will meet our challenges head on. As of this writing, we are planning to hold our Board of Directors Meeting, Annual Meeting and Top-Golf event in Tam-
pa, February 17 – 19, 2021. The OABA has not held an in-person meeting of any kind since last year's Annual Meeting. We are hopeful that it will be safe to meet in Tampa and start the new year in a positive direction. Although we had a very difficult financial year, I am happy to report that we are stable. All of our obligations are cur-
rent, we did not borrow any money and we still have cash in the bank. We were able to provide all of our member ser- vices, and then some, to our members. We have lost several members because they did not have the re- sources and we hope to welcome them back in 2021. As we work our way into 2021, we have much work to
do as we expand the offerings of services to our mem- bers. I look forward to seeing many of you at the meet- ing in Naples.
