Faircracker SPRING 2021
From The Executive Director Dan West
Hello Florida Fairs! I trust everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!
At this time, Florida Fairs are ready to roll and we are on the road again visiting the great fairs of Florida. With our first fair visits of the new year we made a couple of trips to the Manatee County Fair in Palmetto. What a great start the fair industry has had with the early fairs in January. Kudos to the board and staff at Manatee for all of their hard work and efforts to prove that we can put on safe fairs for the citizens of Florida. Many fairs came to visit and they even had a special guest with Marla Calico visiting from the IAFE. Our next visit came on January 29th as we traveled to West Palm Beach and the South Florida Mini Fair. Thank you to Vicki and her entire staff for making all of the fair folks feel so welcome and for hosting the Zone 2 reception. We will travel back for their fair in May. Our next stops were at the Desoto County Fair in Arcadia and the Charlotte County Fair in Port Charlotte. It was great to meet all of the fair folks and see the hard work culminate in great fairs for their citizens. We traveled to the Hendry County Fair in Clewiston and visited the Osceola County Fair, Martin County Fair and Hardee County Fair. Thank you all for making us feel so welcome and pointing out all the protocols put in place by your fair board. Keep a lookout because we will be coming to a fair near you very soon! With all of the visits we have made one thing rings true. Florida Fairs
and its members are resilient. They have collaborated together and made their grounds as safe as possible for fairgoers to again enjoy what

fairs have to offer. Associate members and fairs boards are working together to make the best layouts and provide that safe envi- ronment our patrons are looking for. Throughout the last few months there have been endless numbers of Zoom Meetings for members to use each other as sounding boards for ideas and plans they would im- plement. One thing is for sure, we always succeed when we work as a team and that has definitely been proven this past year and will continue in to the fu- ture. Don’t forget about the Florida Federation of Fairs 70th Annual Conven-
tion. “Fairs Won’t Back Down” is the theme for this year’s event and rightly so. The Florida Federation of Fairs Board met in December to get the plans underway for this year’s event. They again met in January to complete the convention schedule and showcase lineup. The conven- tion will be held in Naples at the Naples Grande Beach Resort May 13- 15, 2021. Information about the convention has been emailed out to everyone so please let us know if you did not receive it. Make your hotel reservations and register for the convention at
Floridafairs.org. Also, look for the information about the Florida Federation of Fairs Con- vention Fun Shoot which will be held on Wednesday, May 12th at Gulf Coast Clays in Naples. Come out and enjoy this time with other fairs and associate members for a great networking and fellowship. I look forward to seeing all of you at the convention and at a fair near
you! Daniel West INSIDE THIS ISSUE
