Enclosed cab forklift for service centre

N

ew Jersey-based MarineMax Brant Beach recently took delivery of an M2300H

Hydro M_Drive forklift. This unit features a custom-engineered enclosed operator’s cab, 23,000 lb equivalent lifting capacity and a 129-inch wheelbase. In 2019, this well-established marine retailer decided to upgrade its marina forklift as another forklift was not holding up well in the salt water environment and frequent repairs were starting to add up. “We switched to Marine Travelift because of their reputation for quality,” stated John Mondelli, General Manager at MarineMax Brant Beach. “We already have a Marine Travelift boat hoist, which made us confident in the long- lasting quality of the equipment and factory support that comes along with the Hydro M_Drive forklift.” This M2300H hydrostatic

drive marine forklift features a shorter wheelbase for maximum manoeuvrability around tight spaces while maintaining precise control and a tighter turning radius. It also includes the first-ever enclosed cab on a forklift produced

by Marine Travelift, engineered to ensure maximum operator visibility, and custom controls, which were both special requests by MarineMax Brant Beach. The cold weather in late Fall and early Spring, along with the brutal wind off the water, made having an enclosed cab essential for the MarineMax Brant Beach team. “Marine Travelift delivered exactly what we need,” approved Mondelli. “The enclosed cab was a necessity for our operators with the unpredictable weather. We couldn’t be happier with the Marine Travelift forklift.”

When choosing the Hydro M_Drive

series, marinas are able to select from many innovative custom options and enhancements to create a machine that best fits their needs. “It was especially satisfying working with MarineMax to design the enclosed cab and controls and knowing we were able to deliver exactly what they wanted,” agreed Brock Rubens, Director of Marine Travelift Sales. “Our team here at Marine Travelift went as far as mocking up the cab out of wood to make sure we got all the details right and visibility was not compromised.”

Responding to an increase in demand from the growing Asian yachting and maritime markets, global marine transport and logistics provider Peters & May has appointed a new Regional Manager to oversee operations in the area. Highly experienced in global transport logistics, Webster has worked for Peters & May since 2006. He will head up the strong regional

team already in place, which includes Singapore-based Charles Hazet, who oversees business development for South-East Asia, as well as Hong Kong-based Sales Manager Darren Catterall. Speaking about his new role,

the Peters & May team in Asia – a region with so much potential. This is going to be an exciting year, starting with two sailings scheduled within the coming months and a growing interest in yachts and superyachts throughout the region. “Asian manufacturers are finding

new buyers abroad, in the US, Europe or Australasia, while European brands are also experiencing more demand in Asia. This means there’s been a steady and increasing requirement for shipments to and from Asia and I believe this market will continue to expand and strengthen over the coming years.”

Teledyne acquires FLIR Systems

On 4 January, 2021, Teledyne Technologies Inc and FLIR Systems Inc jointly announced that they had entered into a definitive agreement under which Teledyne will acquire FLIR in a cash and stock transaction valued at approximately $8 billion. “At the core of both our companies

are proprietary sensor technologies. Our business models are also similar: we each provide sensors, cameras and sensor systems to our customers. However, our technologies and products are uniquely complementary, with minimal overlap, having imaging sensors based on different semiconductor technologies for different wavelengths,” said Robert Mehrabian, Executive Chairman of Teledyne. “For two decades, Teledyne has demonstrated its ability to compound earnings

and cash flow consistently and predictably. Together with FLIR and an optimised capital structure, I am confident we shall continue delivering superior returns to our stockholders.” “FLIR’s commitment to innovation

spanning multiple sensing technologies has allowed our company to grow into the multi- billion-dollar company it is today,” added Earl Lewis, Chairman of FLIR. “With our new partner’s platform of complementary technologies, we will be able to continue this trajectory, providing our employees, customers and stockholders even more exciting momentum for growth. Our Board fully supports this transaction, which delivers immediate value and the opportunity to participate in the upside potential of the combined company.”
