8 SERVICE PEDESTALS
Intelligent power on the dockside T
he comprehensive range of electrical connection components developed by Hubbell Marine of
America has been expanded with the addition of a new line of products. Its Intelligent Dockside Power Pedestals offer marina owners a distinctive, state-of- the-art power delivery system that provides superior customer amenities and helps to efficiently manage their facility. Available in four models,
Intelligent Dockside Power Pedestals are a stark contrast to traditional marina models. With modern European styling, they are finished in gleaming white and brushed aluminium. At night, LED lighting provides a sophisticated – and maintenance-free – glow to the dock. All four Intelligent Dockside
Power Pedestals utilise cloud- based software, so they can easily be updated. Marina employees can commission or decommission a single or group of pedestals using the Hubbell Dockmaster mobile app and monitor their operating conditions. The Captain/Owner app provides reporting and power condition alerts, and retains guest preferences through the database, which can be downloaded to their berth upon return. Models 1 and 2 can be configured
for 30 amp 120 Volt AC or 50 amp 120/240 volt AC, with US standard marine-grade outlets. A single pedestal serves two berths, each with two outlets and water supply. Model 2 includes a high- performance, wide-area mesh Wi-Fi signal with gigabyte speed that is accessible through any connected device. Equipped with proximity and battery back-up emergency lighting, both models can be customised with a logo. Models 3 and 4 cover the entire marina power requirement from 30-400 amps. Supplied with the same suite of features as Models 1 and 2, these versions are fitted
with a full-colour display that can present marina-specific information for an improved
customer experience and carry advertisements, thus introducing an additional revenue stream.

A recent development undertaken by Maricer in the Far East allowed design engineers at the company’s base in Spilsby, England, to fully develop an extended range of products to suit the client’s design criteria. This included superyacht services, a potable water supply and a pump-out system with strategically-located suction points around the marina. Superyacht services consisted of 400 amp three-phase direct connection supplies and 250 amp three-phase socket outlets, both metered, with all consumption data communication transmitted by GPRS to a cloud-based server. In addition, 1 inch metered water supplies were included within the superyacht housings. Maricer also incorporated a vacuum pump-out suction hose connection with 90 degree isolation valve and start-stop buttons. Discreet LED illumination was provided around the housing canopy, giving an attractive glow of light
