some still doing so.

One of those things that has been chal- lenged was getting proper nutrition, espe- cially during the early parts of the pandem- ic when many grocery stores were bom- barded with people. As a way to spread information about

C

how to stay on top of your nutrition during the pandemic, the Canadian Nutrition Society (CNS) released an infographic to highlight how Canadians can continue to not only adapt to the pandemic but also eat right. The infographic advises people to focus on nutritional health by eating plenty of fruits, vegetables and whole grains along

OVID-19 has made 2020 an unusual year in more ways than one, especially since it sent plenty of people to work at home for months, with

with protein foods such as eggs, beans and lower-fat dairy products. The need to limit

any highly processed foods is also high- lighted along with drinking plenty of water to stay hydrat- ed, especially if tem- peratures continues to reach over 30 degrees Celsius. One thing the infographic points out that should be followed on a daily basis,pan- demic or not, is to eat mindfully and only eat when hungry and stop when you’re full. While COVID-19 numbers in the South

Zone have been relatively low compared to other areas across the country, precaution is still needed when heading out. The CNS recommends only grocery shop- ping once a week to prevent any further

exposure. While the question has risen around if

there are any particular foods or food groups that could help to prevent COVID- 19,the CSN says that is false. “Although no specific foods, dietary sup- plements or natural health products will prevent infection, eating a healthy diet, along with other healthy behaviours, strengthens your immune system’s ability to fight infections,” reads the CSN infographic.
