“I don’t think I’ve ever been out there (Trout “We’re open to that (resident requests) and we
haven’t asked for that specifically but we have had different groups come to us with different ideas. We have implemented those and we are open to hearing ideas and never ruling anything out entirely. Looking at all possibilities, and that is where we are at now,we’re still in the develop- ment stage. It’s a work in progress,”explained Prokop.“We had earmarked it for five stages but that’s not in stone, there could be more stages.” The Trout Pond has been stocked with Silver
Steelhead Trout with a recommended catch and release program in place. Another addition to the area has been camp- ing which boasts nine sites available for both RVs and tents.

Pond) and there hasn’t been people there, some- times more than
others. There’s also the camping facility that opened up and that has been utilized every weekend as well. It seems to be catching on and there have been very favourable com- ments there as
well. That’s also a part of the proj- ect and it is coming along just fine,”added Prokop. The walking trails in and out of town though
are nearing completion as Prokop estimates there isn’t much left to do with the project see- ing its end before the year is over. “That is in the final
stage.There is roughly one
more kilometre to do there and it’s just the Trout Pond entrance to where it will end up at the 56th Avenue tie in. It will carry on to east on 56th Avenue,”he said.“That is earmarked to be com- pleted sometime this fall, I think the October
range was the
timeline. That is in the mix right
now.Weather is a factor and hopefully they are on schedule. I know they had some difficulties with other projects so they were a bit late getting started there, I think three or four
weeks. That delayed things to some degree but we’re looking at a rough October completion.” While the project was delayed, Prokop reports
the work has hit smooth waters as they continue towards finalization. “So far, I don’t think there haven’t been any snags and they’re just going to town as best as they can. It will be completed sooner rather than later and we’re excited about
that. That’s a huge improvement for the community and area with that intersection layout and what that brings to the Town of Taber. Another entrance access into town and leaving the Taber area so it’s a major improvement.”
