IN THE SPOTLIGHT: GROWING YOUR BUSINESS

IN THE SPOTLIGHT

As founder and director of Satarah, a successful recruitment consultancy based in Northampton, the Covid-19 lockdown is far from the first unprecedented and turbulent time that Esther Greenwood has encountered. Indeed, as Satarah looks ahead to its 10th

anniversary in 2021, it was in the wake of the 2008 recession that Esther decided to take the plunge and set up the company, walking away from a successful corporate recruitment career to do so. From the very beginning, Esther was determined, like

many successful entrepreneurs before her, to forge a path and create a company based on the values she held dear. Esther said: “I absolutely care about people and I

love that I can change someone’s life for the better. That’s why I love my job, and inevitably that’s played a huge role in Satarah’s success.” Flexibility was ingrained from the beginning, which

Esther believes has contributed two fundamental elements for growth: being able to adapt to changing business needs, and allowing staff to balance their work and personal life. This holistic approach to working is something the

team at Satarah have seen changing within the recruitment landscape throughout their time in business, and with the necessity of home-working propelled forward due to the lockdown, there is a clear shift in what’s important to businesses. Esther has seen the move from geography being key

to a company’s success, to skills, as boundaries have become increasingly fluid and people can work from anywhere; this communication and understanding of

ONE KEY THING YOU NEED TO GROW YOUR BUSINESS

Ian Smith (pictured), Director at INVU shares his experience of the systems that help power business growth

Growing your business is not easy. As a business owner and or manager, you will often take up many roles. These range from business development and customer contact to dealing with compliance. Compliance comes in many

forms, accounting, VAT returns, employment obligations etc. and can easily eat up valuable time that could be better focussed on growing the business. Compliance should not be a

barrier to growth. In an ideal world, you will be maximising your time with clients and minimising time in the back-office. But how can you free up this time? By digitally transforming your business. There are many software

products out there that will help you focus less on the time- consuming, mundane tasks and more on the tasks that will add value to your business. Document Management is one such example that will help you cut

out this manual work. A Document Management

system stores all your business documents digitally, making it quick and easy to retrieve your files. Additionally, you can automate document processing and data capture to help process documents faster. Robert Oulsnam & Company, an

estate agent, struggled to deal with the increased paperwork they gained from expanding the lettings side of the business. They

implemented a document management system and saved three to four hours accessing documents each day, improving customer service. This enabled them to grow.

A DECADE OF BUSINESS SUCCESS

her client’s shifting needs has been key to the organic growth of the company. Esther explained: “In business, relationships are pivotal. We listen closely to our client’s requirements and in turn they trust us to provide. We have to constantly analyse the landscape to understand, and deliver, on what our clients need.” This analysis has led Satarah to ensure they support

the candidate, but also the business looking to hire. Esther continued: “We’ve expanded our services and offer our clients the opportunity to work with a business coach, to find out what their business really needs, and ensure when we place a candidate, we know they are the perfect fit.” With their strategic focus and 10 years of success

behind them, the team at Satarah are looking forward to what their next decade in business will bring.
