Farming conferences to go ahead despite pandemic

T

wo farming conferences are set to go ahead this autumn – one as a full

event, the other online due to the coronavirus pandemic. The East of England Farm- ing Conference is due to take place on Wednesday, 18 No- vember, at the East of England Showground,

Organisers have promised a full programme and say social distancing guidelines will be observed.

Farmers will tell their stories online to the public, says Annabel Shackleton

The conference recently wel- comed two new faces to its or- ganising committee. They are Leicestershire farmer Joe Stan- ley; and AHDB Cereals & Oil- seeds knowledge exchange manager Teresa Meadows, who covers East Anglia.

The conference sets out to provide farmers, food producers and industry specialists with

the latest knowledge needed to make better informed business decisions. Tickets will be availa- ble through the conference web- site at www.eoefarmingconfer- ence.co.uk. Meanwhile, early-bird tickets are already on sale for the Agri- business 2021 conference on 11 November. Aimed primarily at the agricultural supply chain, this year’s event is being held online rather than in person. The chief topic this year is creating resilient and sustaina- ble agri-food supply chains. The Agricultural Industries Confed- eration, which is organising the event, says it is especially rele- vant given the current business and political environment. Speakers will include AIC

chief executive Robert Sheasby, climate change committee chair- man Lord Deben, NFU president

East of England Conference chairman Tom Martin

Minette Batters and AHDB chairman Nicolas Saphir. The conference will be chaired by BBC broadcaster Caz Graham. Early-bird tickets must be booked by 21 September. For details, visit www.agribusi- ness.org.uk.
